Coming back home from college is always exciting. You get to see your friends and hang out with family and just relax and relish in that 2-3 month period of utter freedom. It's nice to be home, back where you were raised and wanting to catch up on things that have been going on in your town since you left. If you're like me and you're from Saint Louis, then you know the best way to catch up is on the City of Saint Louis Facebook Page. It's a parody page fully of satirical comedy that keeps folks updated on what's going on in our lovely City. So without further adieu, I give you: 12 Facebook Posts that Sum Up Coming Back Home to Saint Louis!

1. When the heat gets to be too much and that only thing Saint Louisains have to turn to is our delicious Ted Drewes!

The only reward that'll satisfy a hard day's work....

2. When you come back into town and notice all the construction STILL going on.

The traffic is awful, the signs here are hypocritical, and the construction on major roads seems to last a lifetime.

3. When you're ready to get back to working at your job, which HAD a good pay.

Great. That's exactly what one wants to see when they're a broke college student, hoping to make a few bucks. But the City of STL always manages to make it entertaining.

4. Why not make 4th of July even more thrilling than it usually is?!

Living in Saint Louis entails some fun games to play with your neighbors during this holiday. In my personal experience, I've received but one of the prizes. A stolen car!!! On the 4th of July is always fun to anticipate wether or not you're going to make it to tomorrow morning.

5. With Missouri being under a system of caves, sinkholes are always a must during the summer!

When sinkholes happen in Saint Louis, we make it a big deal. But hey! More room for cars to drive so maybe we won't have to sit in traffic as long.

6. When it gets hot in Saint Louis, it get H-O-T.

It's times like these when it's a blessing that you run out of hot water during what was supposed to be a relaxing, warm shower.

7. When looking for something fun AND responsible to do this summer, look no further than eating a STL speciality.

I can attest that if you've got a sweet tooth, then wrangle yourself up some nice gooey buttercake. It tastes good AND the only thing that's bad about it is the possibility of going broke because you went and bought too much of that tempting g o o e y b u t t e r c a k e...

8. Once again, our 4th of the July parties are kinda a big thing...

I would hope that our tax dollars would at least make the night sky look pretty while we're all stuffing our faces full of hotdog...

9. You can run, but you can't hide from that annoying commercial.

Every Saint Louisian knows that commercial... and I think we'd much rather appreciate the temptation of a fast food joint rather than suffering through yet another Brown and Brown infomercial.

10. As someone who suffers from the worst allergies in the world, coming back to Saint Louis isn't always the best...

I'd be more than willing to trade the fireworks taxes for better air. Please. I'm begging you.
Sincerely,
A Concerned and Allergic Citizen.

11. I mean... the rest of the road looks great!

I'm noticing a pattern here... Saint Louis and it's roads/cars really need help.

12. And Finally!

No matter what, whenever I'm down in the dumps and missing my college friends, I look to the City of STL page and they always cheer me up. It reminds me just how... unique... and interesting my city is and leaves a smile on my face.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
