On the first day of Christmas I forgot to get a gift, so I picked up some

1. CANDY!

On the second day of Christmas, I still hadn’t bought the gift, so I went and grabbed some

2. SOCKS!

On the third day of Christmas, I was still too lazy to buy a gift, so I purchased

3. A MUG!

On the fourth day of Christmas, I still needed that gift, so I bought some

4. GLOVES!

On the fifth day of Christmas, I still didn’t have a gift, so I had to get

(FIVE) BAAAAAAAATH BOMBS!

On the sixth day of Christmas, I still hadn’t found a gift, so I went for some

6. CUTE JEWLERY!

On the seventh day of Christmas, I still needed to get a gift, so I went and picked up some

7. BODY PRODUCTS

On the eighth day of Christmas, for some reason I still didn’t have that gift, so I bought

8. A SUCCULENT

On the ninth day of Christmas, I still had to buy that damn gift, so I grabbed a tube of

9. CHAPSTICK

On the tenth day of Christmas, I still needed to buy a gift, so I picked out some

10. SCHOOL SUPPLIES

On the eleventh day of Christmas, I was running out of ideas, so I just gave some

11. MONEY!

On the twelfth grade of Christmas, I had nothing left to give, so I made a

12. HANDMADE CHRISTMAS CARD!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines.
