12 Daily Affirmations To Help You Get Through Tough Situations
Wil Stewart

Every day is not all sunshine and rainbows. Some days, I just want to stay in bed, mope a little bit and watch some movies.

Other days, I’m ready to take the world by the reins and "carpe diem", or seize the day. Either way, sometimes, life can be a bit unpredictable.

We don’t know what obstacles or unforeseen circumstances that can and will slap us in the face, whether it be external or internal.

I have constructed a list of my favorite quotes by some of my favorite motivational speakers, singers, as well as some quotes from the bible that have gotten me through my toughest days.

I hope these words of encouragement and enlightenment inspire you to make the most of your seemingly desolate situations.

1. “Sometimes you have to encourage yourself. Sometimes you have to speak victory during the test – and no matter how you feel, speak the word, and you will be healed.” – Donald Lawrence

2. "If there is no enemy within, the enemy outside can do you no harm." – Les Brown

3. “Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the Devil.” – Ephesians 6:1

4. “You are the executive director and screenwriter of your life.” - Eric Thomas

5. “Irrational self-confidence is worth more than rational defeatism.” – Anonymous

6. “Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am in to be content.” – Philipians 4:6

7. “When life knocks you down, try to land on your back. Because if you can look up, you can get up.” – Les Brown

8. “Therefore, we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day.” – 2 Corinthians 4:16

9. “You got to be willing to walk in a storm.” – Ray Lewis

10. “Nothing can dim the light which shines from within.” – Maya Angelou

11. “Your mind is a garden, your thoughts are the seeds. You can grow flowers, or you can grow weeds.” – Anonymous

12. “Be still, and know that I am God." -Psalms 46:10

Take these words, and implement them in your life. Engulf them in your mind, and let them resonate with your spirit.

What you feed your mind will shape your future.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
