As a college senior, I'm really tired of hearing these 12 things.


1. So what do you plan on doing after graduation?

I don't know, Susan.

2. Are you really a senior?

Yep.

3. Do you have a job lined up for after school?

Leave me alone. I'm working on it, okay??

4. "Finding a job in this economy is going to be tough"

So I've been told.

5. What do you plan on doing with that major

*deep exhale*

6. Why did you pick that major?

This is my life. Now, let me live it.

7. Are you going to get your masters?

I don't know what I'm eating for lunch.

8. Where are you going to do your internship?

Ah man, my crystal ball is broken. I can't see the future today.

9. When are you going to graduate?

AS SOON AS I CAN

10. Where are you headed after you graduate?

Again, I can't see the future today.

11. "You're going to miss college so much."

Oh, I didn't know you can see the future.

12. Wait, what are you majoring in again?

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
