My Take On TV

Have you guys been looking for new TV shows to watch, but nothing on television is to your liking? The other day I was thinking about the TV shows I used to absolutely love, but unfortunately have ended. There seems to be quite the difference in TV shows recently.

I don't really know what it is but TV shows on now seem to be based in the Regency era... or is that just me? I want to share with you some of the TV shows that I used to watch. These aren't going to be super old TV shows, but they are no longer on television. I recommend checking these shows out if you are unfamiliar with any of them!

1. Monk (2002-2009)

"Monk" is a detective show about a man, Adrian Monk, played by Tony Shalhoub, with obsessive-compulsive disorder. Throughout the show, Monk's disorder causes him to get himself into either funny or dangerous situations. It also, however, allows him to solve cases by noticing the slightest of details that would be impossible for anyone else to find.

2. Psych (2006-2014)

What could be better than watching two idiots pretend to be detectives? Shawn Spencer, a crime consultant, tricks everyone into thinking he is psychic by using his "heightened observational skills." His friend, Burton Guster, provides him with help and acts as his partner on every case.

3. Alias (2001-2006)

"Alias" is a show about a young woman, Sydney Bristow, who works for a covert branch of the CIA. Sydney gets sent all over the world, having to use various disguises to retrieve whatever her boss, Sloan, asks her to. Secrets come out and Sydney has to make difficult decisions to protect the friends and family she has left.

4. The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius (2002-2006)

"Jimmy Neutron" is a classic. Honestly, if you haven't watched "Jimmy Neutron" you are a disgrace. Not only was this an amazing children's TV show, but you can re-watch it as an adult and it's still super entertaining. Jimmy Neutron is a young child genius who is constantly building new inventions that, more often than not, end up going wrong. He then has to use his scientific mind to save his town and sometimes, the world.

5. Veronica Mars (2004-2007)

A private investigator, but also a high school student; Veronica Mars solves crimes around her hometown of Neptune, California. While Veronica is an incredible investigator, her work manages to get her into a lot of dangerous situations. She will go to extreme lengths to help anyone who comes to her, asking her for help; even if it will put her life in danger.

6. The Twilight Zone (1959-964)

"The Twilight Zone" is a television series unlike any other. Each episode could be a different genre, a different story, with different characters, Each episode was meant to have a certain message for viewers, and most episodes included an unexpected and shocking twist.

7. Buffy (1997-2003)

A supernatural drama about vampire slayers? Sounds good to me. Although Buffy wants to live a normal life, she eventually grows to accept her fate and fights her way to safety time and time again against vampire, demons, and other monsters.

8. Merlin (2008-2012)

A young boy leaves his home village to find work at Camelot, but he has a grave secret-Magic. Magic has been outlawed due to the pain it has caused. Anyone found practicing magic or aiding a sorcerer is put to death. Merlin saves the Prince, Arthur, using magic. The King, Uther, gives him the position of man servant to the Prince. Now he must hide his gift while ensuring the survival of Prince Arthur.

9. Drop Dead Diva (2009-2014)

Died and sent to heaven. Pressed "return" and sent back. A beautiful model, Deb, dies in a car accident and is sent to heaven. At the same time, a plus-sized lawyer is on her deathbed. Deb presses return on a computer keyboard and finds herself waking up in the body of Jane, the lawyer. Now she must adjust to her new look, life, and job while hiding her true identity from the man she loves.

10. Ugly Betty (2006-2010)

Betty Suarez may not have the best style, but that doesn't stop her from landing a job at one of the most prestigious fashion magazines called "Mode." Betty learns what she must to stay in the fashion industry, tangles with loves, and faces some tough decisions along the way.

11. Chuck (2007-2012)

From computer geek to spy? Chuck Bartowski receives an email from an old college friend that contains a software program with the greatest secrets from the United States government and transfers all the information into Chuck's brain. These secrets lead him to be able to know things he shouldn't know and do things he was never able to do.

12. Pushing Daises (2007-2009)

What would you do if you could touch something and bring it back to life, but if you touched it again, it would be dead forever? Well, that is exactly Ned's problem. Ned has an ability that allows him to bring dead things back to life, but only once.

He works with a man named Emerson Cod to solve murders by bringing the victims back from the grave for one minute to learn who the murderer is. He later finds himself in a difficult situation when he must bring the woman he loves back from the dead, and realizes he can never touch her again.

There are a couple honorable mentions I want to put in as well. These shows are ones that I either didn't put on the list because I liked them but didn't love them, or they are too clique. My honorable mentions are "Friends," "House," "Castle," and "Firefly."I hope this list provides you with some new great shows to watch!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
