Trying to find a summer internship that is both engaging and relevant isn't easy! We've all done the ominous search, and here are 11 thoughts we've had while searching for a summer internship.
1. Look at all these internships, I can totally get one
Then you realize that you need to filter out all the internships that aren't your major.
2. Wait, maybe not
You click on the internship, get excited by reading the description and realize it says: SENIORS ONLY
3. What the fuck??!!
Then you actually find the internship of your dreams. Wonderful company, you have all the qualifications and then it says UNPAID.
4. I'm shook. I need money.
So, now you search for internships that are paid and find another internship that isn't as perfect but will do. However, it doesn't clearly state if it pays or not.
5. Mom, if it says "can give college credit" does that mean it pays???
Your mom says that means it doesn't pay. You are hoping she's wrong and send in your resume.
6. Mom has been wrong before, I hope I get this
You've heard nothing and you're starting to feel hopeless.
7. Ugh, why don't they just respond??
Once you've hit rock bottom, a glimmer of hope appears. The internship you asked your mom about calls to set up an interview
8. YAYYYYYYY! I'm going to crush this interview
In the interview, they tell you that the job isn't paid, but they do offer snacks.
9. How many times do I have to say this?! I WILL NOT WORK FOR FREE
So to cheer yourself up, you go out with friends to buy ice cream and eat your feelings.
10. I need this
10.5. Oh crap, I just spent more money!
So then, you decide to just keep applying.
11. Someone has to hire me right?
I am currently thinking through #11. Someone has to hire us right?
I wish you luck on your search for an internship that pays well and allows you to buy that fun summer concert ticket.
