As students come home for Thanksgiving, or even winter break, from all different universities and colleges, we tend to get HYPE for all of the things that home has, that our colleges, just cannot compare to.

1. Food. It's everywhere.

You no longer have to wait until payday to buy your groceries or wait until you get a second to breathe to go grocery shopping. Mom and/or dad are set when it comes to food in the house, and we are excited to devour it all. Plus, you get all of those home-cooked meals.

2. Getting to sleep in (for the most part).

For all of us that dreadfully have 8ams or any early classes, we can finally sleep in for once, and not feel like we've fallen behind on 3 different classes for sleeping in.

3. Our hometown friends and our family.

Sometimes catching up on the latest gossip within the fam and the friend group is somehow stress-relieving. We need those homegrown people to remind us where we came from, and help realize that our support system will always be close by, even if we aren't always physically close-by.

4. We, for the most part, do not have to pay for everything ourselves.

One luxury is that you're eating your parents' food and sometimes they like to treat you to going out to a restaurant if you're lucky. Typically, we are greeted with open arms and many presents, whether that be the feast of Thanksgiving or the gifts on Hanukkah or Christmas.

5. Looking at the gif from above... we get to see our animals!!!

We know you think we've betrayed you, but we're sorry, please love us again. We just left to get an education, OK?!

6. The great showers and baths.

OK, this might not be the first thing you think of, but most of the time, our parents have much better bathrooms than we do at school. Having an extraordinary shower or bath can change a mood instantly.

7. Being able to catch up on all of your Netflix shows that you've had to miss because of school/being too busy.

Whether you're catching up, or starting a new show that everyone's been talking about. We're excited to lay in bed, ignore the world, just relax and watch some freaking Netflix.

8. The minimal homework.

Yes, you may have to do some homework, but it's usually not as much; plus if they check it, it won't be until after break (just don't procrastinate).

9. All of your favorite restaurants that your town has that your college town doesn't.

You learn to appreciate these foods when you go back home. Oh how I've missed Cava, Cheeburger Cheeburger, and even Potbelly.

10. My bed.

Our comfortable bed with the home-feel to it. We can barely get out of our beds for class. Now that we are on break, don't even think about trying to pull me out of bed.

11. Less cleaning/less chores.

Some of us still have chores when we go home, but it's definitely at a lesser amount. At school, we have to keep our dorms, apartments, and townhouses clean by ourselves. We have to tidy up everything. At home, mom usually cleans and asks for your help sometimes (especially if people are coming home), but it cannot compare to the mess at school.

Don't get us wrong, Mom and Dad, we are so glad to be back for more than these reasons. We've missed our roots back at home.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
