Here are 11 different things that you could be doing that may qualify as a better use of your time than doing your boring homework.

1. Reading all of the top stories on the side of your Facebook feed

When the teacher asks you if you read, you can say yes. Because, technically, you did. Just, you know, not for your “class.”

2. Making a halfhearted attempt to clean your room

This basically turns into you dumping the pile of clothes on your bed onto the already massive pile of clothes on your desk chair. At least you don’t have to sleep in your closet anymore.

3. Taking a quasi-nap

*Shuts eyes for fifteen minutes ... checks phone ... nobody has contacted me in my life ever ... tries to sleep ... gets hungry*

4. Asking your neighbors how their weekends were

Can you tell that I’m desperately trying to drag this conversation out for as long as possible even though I wouldn’t really particularly care to hear about the intricacies of your drama with your best friend's cousin's boyfriend.

5. Clipping your toenails

This is very important. If you don’t clip your toenails, they’ll be all long and gross and you’ll get ingrown nails and stubbing your toe will be ten times more painful. Your health is at stake.

6. Getting a midnight dinner

You ate six hours ago. Six hours! Sure, you cleared out all of your dorm room snacks in the meantime, but you deserve a little pick-me-up after just staring at your computer f.

7. Texting friends who you haven’t spoken to in months

“Hey! What’s up? I know I deleted you off most social media after graduation, but I’d love to catch up.”

8. Sitting in the library and pretending to be productive

They don’t know you’ve been watching videos of sloths for an hour.

9. Playing weird, obscure games on your laptop

What’s mahjong? Well, it’s free, so we’re about to find out.

10. Deciding that today is the day you’re going to go to the gym

*Stays at gym for two minutes. Gets anxiety from seeing all of the athletes. Runs away and eats snacks while looking in the mirror and sobbing.*

11. Actually doing your laundry

Haha, just kidding...who wants to do laundry?

It's officially December. There is less than a month of 2024, and I still feel like yesterday was summer. Now comes the merriest time of the year, the Christmas season.

Everyone has been waiting for this time of year since mid-October (which is way too early, in my opinion) or before. It's a time of love, family, memory-making, and gift-giving. A lot of times when I ask friends and family what they want, I get a lot of "I don't know" or "I don't care."

I was sitting at my cubicle, now that I am an adult, looking at the rain pouring down on the windowsill, bumming on life, wishing for the rain to just stop for a full day.

There are moments where we count down the hours until work is over and how many more days till the weekend, and this many weeks until something exciting. Or something like that? Well, I was bumming because my next day off from work is not until Memorial Day weekend, which is not until the end of May. And since this is my first year out of college being a “real person,” I am totally missing the winter, spring and summer breaks. I am sure all of us have felt this way even if just for a hot minute…

If you go to or went to Kent State, then more than likely you have done or will do some of these things.

1. You’ve slipped and fallen on the ice at least once.
