As Mother's Day occurs, I can't help but wonder why there's only one day to specifically celebrate moms? It may sound cliche, but my mom deserves more than just one day of recognition for everything she does. Rather than just thanking her one day of the year, I thought of all the little things she does that truly make me the luckiest daughter in the world.
1. For always answering the phone.
No matter what time it is (unless it's past her bedtime...) you can guarantee you have someone to talk to, no matter how far away she may be.
2. For telling you you're beautiful, even when you're at your worst.
She has seen you before you even knew what makeup was. Don't argue with her, just accept the compliment.
3. For staying in with you.
When you have a serious case of FOMO, you can count on your mom to be there with a sappy Lifetime movie and two glasses of wine.
4. For asking you questions.
It may have been annoying when you were younger, but now you enjoy when your mom asks you about the little things in your life.
5. For cooking your favorite meals.
And if your mom isn't the cooking type, thank her for taking you to your favorite restaurant instead.
6. For being your biggest supporter.
Moms love being proud of their children, so they're basically your biggest cheerleader.
7. For being your taxi before you could drive.
And you could look extra cool if she let you sit in the front when she dropped you off at the movies or mall.
8. For having a shoulder to cry on.
When that boy broke your heart or when you failed that chemistry test, mom was there.
9. For taking pictures of you.
They'll be fun to look back on, so let your mom snap all the pictures she wants to.
10. For sharing her food with you.
When "can I have a bite?" turns into eating her whole piece of cake...we've all been there.
11. For loving you unconditionally.
The older you get, you realize there's nothing better than your mom.
Remember to be thankful for your moms everyday, not just one specified day of the year. While I may be biased, I think the best mother belongs to me.
