With such a large majority of people who wear glasses and contacts, it appears to be a less severe problem to those who are fortunate enough to escape these struggles. Even though we deal with these issues frequently in our everyday lives, they still continue to be painful, extra work and incredibly inconvenient.
1. A vicious cycle
It is incredibly difficult to find the glasses that help you see when you are not wearing the glasses that help you see.
2. You can never fall asleep watching a movie.
Unless you can fully enjoy the movie through just the audio, you will always find yourself struggling between the risk of falling asleep with glasses on and breaking them or just turning the movie off altogether.
3. Trying to see underwater is a nightmare.
Even if you have contacts, you do not want to be the dork who actually wears goggles in the pool, especially if you are in a group with your friends. If you only wear glasses, your overall pool experience is difficult and fuzzy.
4. Certain thoughts never fail to blow your mind.
How do people wake up each and every morning and see their surroundings crystal clear? If glasses were never invented, what would life be like for those who cannot see?
5. Choosing a new pair of glasses is the most exciting but stressful thing you can do.
You are excited for a new look, but whatever you decide, you are stuck with for at least a year. This could mean looking super cute or like a complete dork for 365 days. You are never sure if you should take a chance and try something trendy or just stick to your comfort zone.
6. People know when your lazy days are.
For the fortunate ones with 20-20 visions, lazy days are classified by sweatpants or messy/tied hair. The visually challenged, however, are caught more easily because it is generally a matter of wearing contacts or not.
7. People constantly ask to try on your glasses
Yes, I am sorry you have a headache now. No, I did not tell you that you should try them on. And yes, my vision is actually that bad.
8. You hold things just inches away from your face.
Using your phone in bed at night usually includes having your phone practically touching your nose.
9. Showering is truly a struggle
It is actually incredible how many train themselves to shower daily without the ability to read the difference between soap and shampoo. But honestly, nobody listens when the optometrist says not to shower with contacts in.
10. How many fingers am I holding up?
Even though you might be close to legally blind, you can still see shapes. It is pretty funny, however, to trick people into thinking that you cannot actually see their fingers.
11. You always have to go home
Even if it is one in the morning, you cannot spend the night because you do not have your contact solution or glasses with you. Of course, you could trash the contacts for the night, but you would be helpless the following day. Sadly, you cannot help but feel left out.
