11 Stereotypes All Dancers Hate

Have you ever received that dramatic eye roll from a dancer? Well if you have then you've probably said some idiotic thing to offend them. We actually hate all of the stereotypes that you non-dancers assume about us. So let's clear some things up...

1. All dancers don't eat.

If anyone has ever gone out to eat with us dancers you know that we can eat a whole pizza all by ourselves. Don't underestimate us.

2. All dancers don't have a social life.

This is only partially true. We choose to dedicate our time to weeknight dance classes and weekend rehearsals. As they always say, practice makes perfect.

3. "Dance is easy..."

If you've ever said this, you're the biggest liar ever. Dance is not easy at all hence why we spend hours on hours on hours practicing and rehearsing all the time. We suffer blisters, sore muscles, bruises, and aching bodies. If you think it's so easy, why don't you try it sometime?

4. All dancers are snobby.

Again, totally wrong. Us dancers are actually very nice to each other and help one another. Hey, need help stretching? We'll help. Want a work out buddy? Just text us and we'll be there. Most of us just have a resting bitch face but don't let that scare you.

5. All dancers are lazy.

Actually the complete opposite. We're determined and devote all of our time and energy to becoming the best dancer that we could possibly be. That being said, if we deny your request to hang out it's probably because we're exhausted from the endless hours of practicing.

6. All dancers are cliquey and exclusive.

We are very out going as a matter of fact. If we don't know you and we think you did an amazing job on your performance, we will congratulate you when you come off stage.

7. All dancers are competitive.

Some of us actually hate going to competitions and just want to dance for the fun of it. However, that doesn't mean we won't try to do more pirouettes than the girl next to us in class.

8. All male ballet dancers are gay.

None of my male dance friends are gay, sure there's probably a few out there, but think about this... they get to have their arms around every girl dancer. Also, there is nothing wrong with being gay.

9. All dancers are naturally flexible.

Definitely not naturally, my hips weren't made to turn out like this. We spend hours and hours going through excruciating pain just to have a perfect split.

10. All dancers listen to only classical music.

Yeah okay that's what we dance to for the most part, but there comes a time where we like to get down with it and listen to some rap.

11. All dancers have amazing posture.

When we're dancing we have to have our shoulders back and our head held high but when we're relaxing, it's a whole different story. We sit/lay in probably the most awkward positions and we don't care who sees.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
