Big families ARE the best. They make everything more fun and more exciting. More people means more personalities, jokes and special moments. If you're spending Hanukkah, Christmas or New Year's dinner with your big family, here are some things you can relate to.
1. The kitchen island looks like a buffet.
Whoever is hosting probably spent the last two days cooking.
2. You spend the first 5 minutes of your arrival hugging everyone.
Wondering why Rebecca has been glaring at you all night? You probably didn't give her a proper hello when you arrived.
3. 30%-50% of the population is children.
They're adorable but usually produce most of the noise all night.
4. Someone is always yelling.
Whether it's to get everyone's attention or someone's kid is getting in trouble, there's a lot of yelling involved.
5. Board games take forever to finish.
Someone's always getting up to get more food, get a refill, or change a diaper.
6. Dishes take even longer.
Everyone spends half the night making their dishes dirty and the other half pretending they don't exist.
7. You can ditch for 10 minutes without anyone noticing.
Sometimes, you just need a breather. Am I right? Hard to do at a dinner with only 4 people. A piece of cake when there's more people than chairs at the table.
8. Doors/windows are opened at some point.
The massive amount of bodies creates a sweaty environment.
9. You spend half the night making sure you conversate with everyone.
If you leave dinner not having caught up with everyone, you feel incomplete.
10. It's a miracle if everyone eats in the same room.
Tables and chairs are brought in from every room of the house in order to make this wish come true.
11. You love/hate these dinners.
Of course you love your family, who doesn't? But it can be a pretty stressful night for some.
