11 Reasons You Are My Best Friend

I'll be there for you, when the rain starts to pour, I'll be there for you, like I've been there before, I'll be there for you, 'Cause you're there for me too." - The Rembrandts

Having a best friend is hard. The word 'Best Friend' is used so lightly these days that one day this person could be your best friend and the next day that person could be your best friend. Luckily for me, when I put your name after the word best friend, I know it's forever. Here are 11 reason why you are forever and always my best friend. I love you dearly Cara Ann.

1. You'll take bad pictures with me.

I've never had the issue of feeling like I need to retake a picture 1000 times because I know that 90% of the time, as a unit, we look like shit. Whether we choose to take a bad picture or we catch each other off guard, I know a compliment is always coming. And for that 10% where we both look amazing, let's cherish those.

2. You're my partner in crime.

From racing cars by Wegmans, screaming at asshole drivers, driving around Onondaga, Oneida and Madison County at 1:00 a.m., or getting the waitress at The Cheesecake Factory fired, I know that if I'm down for something, you're down for something.

3. You make me laugh.

Let me make myself perfectly clear. If I could have found the video of your laugh, it would be posted here. For those of you who don't know Cara, her laugh sounds like a fog horn, hyena, asthmatic, Carl from Jimmy Neutron wheezing mix. It definitely draws attention and gets everyone laughing. Your laugh makes you, you Cara, don't ever let anyone tell you different.

4. You're loud!

And you talk A LOT. Blame it on your Italian blood all you want. As long as you're around, I'll never be put through an awkward silence. With this also comes with your opinionated but real nature. Thank you for always being there to talk no matter the situation.

5. We go everywhere together.

I've never had to worry about going somewhere alone. Luckily, our parents trust us with each others lives so as long as one of us is going, the other can. Football games, your house in Canastota at midnight, now Canada, I hope someday we can travel the world without our dads calling us every 30 minutes to see if we're still alive.

6. "It's a celebration every time we link up" - Nicki Minaj

Being four hours away from you 10 months of the year is hard, and I know I still haven't come to visit, but no matter what, every time you're home, we make sure we see each other. You'll never have to go out of your way to make plans with me, if you're home, nothing else matters.

7. Senior year.

Everyone knew that if there was one of us, there was both of us. Every single Friday we walked out of school, got in the car, blasted Big Poppa (RIP Biggie), and either went to the mall, one of our houses or got ready for football or hockey games. Matt and Nick couldn't have had a better fan club.

8. Semi '12

As you know, Semi senior year was one of the hardest days for me. I never thanked you for being there for me and making sure I had the best night possible. You really showed me that night that you were the true definition of a best friend. I will love you forever for that.

9. Senior Ball

Remember my near "Janet Jackson Superbowl XXXVIII Nipplegate" incident at Senior Ball? Well thank you for finding Doc Infanti and Mrs. Sommers to fix my dress. You're the real MVP for that. I wasn't ready to "Free the Nipples" quite yet.

10. My Instagram captions.

"Got Cramps Cara?" Thank you for never getting mad at my Instagram captions (or photos) that I post at your expense. Also, thank you for never seeking revenge on me afterwards. We both know I'd lose that battle.

11. Thank you for being my BIM.

BIM ~ Black-Italian Mafia. Nothing will ever tear BIM apart. As long as you've got my back, I promise to always have yours. Please don't ever forget that.

Cara Ann,

You're my best friend. Always have been, always will be. No matter how many best friends are to come, best friends from elementary school, college, work, etc., just know that as my best friend from home, you will never be replaced. I love you forever and a day, to the moon and back, and until the day I die.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
