11 Reasons Post-Halloween Is Better Than Halloween Itself

Halloween is overrated, anyway.

Halloween is at least as big a holiday for college students as it is for kids, so it’s easy to lament over the fact that it already feels like it was ages ago. After all, Halloween involves, to some extent, getting creative, coordinating outfits, late nights and tons of planning ahead.

Rather than dwell on the time and effort you spent on HalloWeekend, though, let’s focus on why the weeks following Halloween are way better than the holiday, itself.

1. No more stressing over costumes

Whether you splurged on a costume or opted for a makeshift one out of what’s in your closet, good chance you spent a little too much brainpower on putting an outfit together.

2. Candy goes on sale

Buying candy after Halloween will not only will it extend the life of the Halloween spirit, but also gives you more bang for your buck.

3. It is socially acceptable to go back to being a hermit

HalloWeekend seems to put pressure on dressing up and being part of the fun, but the stress immediately dissipates once November 1 rolls around.

4. Midterms are usually over

And the unlucky few who still had midterms in the first week of November can now breathe a little more easily, too.

5. You’re in the month of the best holiday: Thanksgiving

Time to get your stretchiest pants ready.

6. And it gives you the motivation to power-through until then.

Thanksgiving gives you a new thing to look forward to, helping you coast through the lull period until finals after Thanksgiving break.

7. You can start saving up for Black Friday

Instead of throwing money at stores to buy costumes you’ll probably never wear again, you’ll feel better knowing you can save for purchases that will be a steal.

8. The world goes into “Holiday Cheer” mode

Meaning people are jollier, more relaxed and even a bit more generous.

9. Holiday decorations become relevant once again

In an impressive turnover time, it seems like stores become stocked overnight with Christmas décor.

10. Slightly more predictable weather

By November, fall is truly in full swing, which usually helps you better gauge how to dress each day.

11. You're that much closer to Winter Break

The sacred time where you get one month off to do absolutely anything of your choosing -- including doing absolutely nothing at all.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
