Those of us with siblings know it can be pretty great sometimes. I mean, you basically have built in best friends. I come from a particularly big family, which means I have lots of little siblings to tell what to do. I'm also the oldest which means I have power, but with power comes responsibility. Being the oldest has both perks and downsides.
1. You're basically your younger siblings extra parent.
And your parents also take advantage of your babysitting capabilities. But I guess it's good practice for the future.
2. You always get shotgun.
You don't even have to call it...most of the time.
3. You don't have to get hand-me-downs.
I guess this is only a benefit if you like shopping.
4. You always have dibs on the remote. Always.
Oh, you're in the middle of a show? Sorry not sorry, "The Bachelorette" comes on in five minutes.
5. You're always the first to do stuff.
You know your siblings are jealous.
6. You get to set the bar for your siblings.
You can set it high or low. It doesn't really matter because you aren't the one that has to live up to the standard.
7. You have more baby pictures than any other kid.
Photo shoots galore because you were obviously the cutest kid. And your parents got lazy.
8. Your siblings are like your minions.
They do and believe whatever you say.
9. Your siblings friends also think you're really cool
Even though you know you aren't.
10. You get a confidence boost when they ask you for tips and advice.
Yes, I am aware of how enlightened I am.
11. Your younger siblings will always be there for you.
They always know what to say to lift your spirits.
