When you move out of your parent's house, whether that be to your own apartment, dorm, or in with a friend somewhere else, you won't have everything you need. The main part of your place that you'll miss of your parents is the kitchen. Who knew that you actually needed those gadgets you got so used to at your family's house? Here are a few you'll want to pick up before you get into your new place.

1. Mixer

You mean I have to mix things by hand if I don't have one of these? It doesn't just come with the apartment?

2. Can Opener

One of those things you won't remember you need until you're halfway into making something and realize you can't open the can of tomatoes you just bought.

3. Wine Opener

You get all settled in for a wine night with the girls and then you realize you have nothing to open the bottles with. Head on over to Pinterest.

4. Pizza Cutter

When Papa John's doesn't cut your pizza well enough or you pick one up from Walmart to stick in the oven, you're going to regret not having a pizza cutter. No, a knife doesn't do the same thing.

5. Measuring Cups

You try making any recipe. There's no denying we're not as good as our parents yet at eyeballing how much a cup of milk is.

6. Waffle Maker

Do yourself a favor and pick one of these up. You won't regret it when it comes to midnight snacks.

7. Sugar Container

When you go to have your coffee, you're going to want a cute container to keep your sugar in. Putting the bag in the pantry? So not Pinterest.

8. Coffee Pot

Speaking of coffee, this thing is going to sit out on your counter pretty much all year, so spring for a pretty one.

9. Strainer

Pasta is a broke college student's best friend. But what if you don't have a strainer? You could have a pretty rough time trying to make pasta.

10. Snuggle Mug

Don't ask questions. Just order yourself one. Now. Whether it's coffee, tea, oatmeal, or a multitude of other things, it will keep your hands nice and cozy.

11. This Thing

Do I eat toast? Not really. Do I eat breakfast? Again, not really. But I need it in my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
