If you live in Sussex County (Ocean View/Bethany Beach area specifically) you know that first dates can be hard to come up with. What can I say? There's just not much to do... or is there??? There's definitely a lot of different options around the towns. Inexpensive or not: the choice is yours. But what exactly is there to do? Well I'm glad you asked!

1. Sunrises at the beach

Com'on, this is literally the perfect first date idea. Given you might have to wake up super early, but if you're trying to impress the person you really want to be with this is definitely option #1! If you're lucky you might be able to spot some dolphins and take a little playful splash in the water.

2. A breakfast date at Sunshine Crepes

Some people are into food dates as a first date. Dinner is always the "go to" option, but how about breakfast? This doesn't have to be super early like a sunrise, but can be a bit of a late breakfast/brunch option. My suggestion is to look at the menu and decide for yourself about this hidden gem!

3. Assawoman wildlife refuge

If you're into adventuring around and finding some cool quiet locations, this is absolutely the perfect date. Here at assawoman wildlife refuge you can bring out the inner wildlife nerd in you as you spot out some cool birds, bugs and even climb the tower. Look around and you might find some other cool things to do.

4. Take a trip to the outlets...

Ok, honestly who doesn't love shopping? This is a good relaxing way to get to know someone and their likes/dislikes along with spending some money on yourself (for a change)

5. .... or Ocean City

There's lots to do in Ocean City! Keep an eye out to see what the Convention Center is doing, joyride and just listen to the radio, or head on down to the boardwalk for some good summer arcade games and rides :)

6. Boardwalks!!!

This one is just a fun one honestly. Arcades, funnel cake, ice cream. What more could you ask for in a first date? This is very fun and relaxing to do! Wear your best swimwear and go ahead and take a dip in the ocean while you're at it.

7. SUP (Stand up Paddle Boarding)

Here's another one for all my adventure people out there! You might have to go around different areas and see which one seems best for you, but this is a perfect first date idea. Anything at the beach is really!

8. Movies at Sun & Surf

Movies tend to be one of the top choices when it comes to a first date. There's a lot less pressure in picking a movie than picking where to eat. Pick a movie, get some snacks and enjoy your night. Sun & Surf specifically has those red reclining chairs we all have come to love and is a nice way to get out and have some fun.

9. Bethany Beach Books

Not about going out and doing these things? That's okay! If you're a person that loves to read (and your date is too) this is probably one of your better options. Going to a bookstore is a perfect way to have some quiet time, maybe get a book or two, get some coffee while you're at it and get to know your date better.

10. The Cottage Cafe

Back to the food? Of course!!! There's only one thing to say about this one: Dune Fries.

11. Farmers Markets

Ah yes the local farmers markets. These are actually my favorites. You ask around, look it up, but these are everywhere during the summer! A real unique first date idea to get some fresh produce, maybe some sunflowers, and get out of the house!!!

So let's hope your first date goes well with some of these ideas. I know how tough it can be to find something to do, but just remember, there's stuff to do everywhere!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
