It's getting to be that time of year again. Midterm season never seems to end, and you look up from your 2 months of studying only to see that finals are in less than a month. Oh, and that 10-page paper you haven't started (or read the book for) is due in a few days as well. Sound a little too familiar? You're not alone.

As hard as college may be, it's brought along an intensified version of excuses to prolong that 57th assignment we forgot was due tomorrow, or successful ways to get out of a mandatory discussion (probably just to finish an assignment for another class.. woo).

Here are some of the most foolproof methods, all in one convenient spot.

1. Food poisoning

You don't see a doctor for it. Does your teacher want an exploding time bomb in their class? Nope!

2. A pet emergency

I wouldn't test my karma here too much. I would give a life and a half for my pets, but seriously teachers get it. From needing updates for a pet surgery to a pet giving birth. Probably the most lax your prof's will be. #dog #mom #status

3. A mental health day

Real as hell. We all could use one once in a while, and if you throw in some explanatory circumstances, you're guaranteed an extension.

4. A wedding

I have friends that have made themselves wedding invitations as backup (that I may steal for my own real one someday). Some ask for proof, but c'mon. It's a wedding. Let me experience some happiness!!

5. Allergic reaction

You gonna doubt I'm severely allergic to your bullsh*t? (For better results try something closer along the line to peanuts.)

6. Hit in *insert various body part*

Sorry I can't finish my paper, my drunk friend hit me in the face with a door and I'm having double vision. :/

7. Ice catastrophe

The cold may suck, but cold brings ice, and ice brings slippy-ness, and slippy-ness brings many painful injuries.

8. Period

There are so many ways you can approach this... As for guys, I mean, give it your best shot, I guess.

9. Can't stop crying

This has actually happened to me. I was watching sad videos (one of those days) and I actually couldn't stop. No questions were asked.

10. Flew off the treadmill

Yep. Another been there done that. Hurt, but hey. Found a new one that works.

11. HIMYM is being taken off Netflix

Have I used this yet? Nope. Will I? After November 13th, it's game on. Also, REALLY Netflix?????

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
