Those stereotypes that are placed on college students for eating the same food is totally true. While we live up to those stereotypes, we are very tired of eating the same food. Sadly, we can't change it because we are all broke and have to get the cheap stuff in order to survive. More importantly, we have to get food that is easy to make and for on the go. Students do not have time to be cooking a gourmet meal when half that time could be used to study and the other half can be used for crying over studying.
Here are 11 common foods that college students are tired of eating:
1. Ramen Noodles or Cup Noodles
Ramen is easy to throw into the water and let it boil while doing some homework or studying. Cup of Noodles is easy to take on the go to a meeting or a class. While it is easy and quick to make, there are only so many flavors out there. Even then, we end up burning our mouths with how fast we are eating it. Definitely not something a college student would reach for when at home.
2. Pizza
The school is throwing an event and there is going to be food? Most likely it is pizza. While we love pizza, we do have our limits of how much we can eat it. Pizza is always a go-to for schools, especially if it is popular around the area. Please find a variety of go-to foods.
3. Pasta
Again, pasta is easy to make, but this time we have a variety of sauces. Pesto, Alfredo, and spaghetti sauce. Three sauces isn't much and I am surprised college doesn't put a limit of how much water we use. Half of it goes to boiling anyway.
4. Hot Pockets
Hot Pockets come in so many flavors and I am pretty sure a college student could name them all. Throw it in the microwave and it's like having an inside-out sandwich without doing all the work. We still burn our mouths because we never have the time to wait for those two extra minutes for it to cool down.
5. Sandwiches
Sandwiches are cool. You can make them however you want. The only downside is that it takes up so much ingredients and it never seems like it is good enough. Some people slap one together, but others have to make it look perfect. In the end, they all get thrown into bags and eaten in the car or on the way to class. It sucks when things have an expiration date too. Time to use up that bread.
6. Chicken Nuggets
Chicken nuggets could be thrown in the oven or microwaved. It is easy to throw them in there while packing up your book bag then throw the nuggets in a bag as well. You can sneakily eat them or let everyone be envious of the dinosaur shape. Microwavable foods save lives.
7. Mac and Cheese
Macaroni and cheese is like a gourmet meal since it requires more time to make. In the end, there is cheesy goodness. It makes the perfect meals for the weekend when you want a distraction from studying. A perfect study break that seems to happen a lot.
8. Cereal
During those mornings where you have time, you might invest in a bowl of cereal. It takes a little more time to eat and make, but it tastes so good. Especially since you could buy that cereal that mom said no to. Maybe she said it for a reason since now you always buy it and the flavor doesn't quite satisfy you anymore.
9. Chef Boyardee
Bringing it back. Investing in that overstuffed ravioli and giant meatballs. Since the pop tags came back, there is no need to struggle with that can opener and waste precious time. Everyone has one or two of these stashed away for extra provisions. We always end up using them though.
10. Grilled Cheese
Grilled cheese is like a gourmet sandwich. It is easy to make for when you want something with more sustenance. Other people just make it for you since they already have that pan nice and seared with butter. You end up having grilled cheese at least once a week.
11. Pizza Rolls
No one actually follows the directions in the back. They put as much as they want and hope that they all get cooked evenly. Eating the whole bag in one setting is not uncommon. Especially if you have to watch a lecture video for class. Just pop those bad boys in and enjoy.
