1. You never had to share toys...
I had 5 billion Barbies and American Girl Dolls, but good thing there were not any trucks in my toy box. I never had to fight over my favorite dolls.
2. ... But you never had anyone to play with.
I played with myself a lot, because that was what I was used to.
3. Dinner was based off what you wanted.
Mom always asked what I wanted to eat, and I usually got just that.
4. You (sometimes) got what you wanted.
I'd sneak some junk food into the cart, and just hope that Mom didn't notice. Even if she did, I'd more than likely still get it.
5. A room all to your own.
Luckily, I never had to share a room with a sibling, making it feel extra small. Being in college and sharing a room with another person is weird to me and I will never get used to it. On top of that, no hand me downs!
6. No sharing the car.
I had my own car, never had to drive siblings to school and didn't have to pick them up or be their chauffeur.
7. It's easier to feel lonely.
I did not have anyone close in age to me, besides friends, so when my parents were busy, it was easy to feel lonely. And it still is.
8. You get to decide where to go on vacation.
I was always asked first where I wanted to go that summer, and I've always answered "California". Still waiting, though.
9. You're independent, because you never had a sibling to hang with 24/7.
I do everything myself, and hate asking for help from anyone. I'd rather just struggle until I figure it out myself.
10. Your pets were seen as siblings.
I have two cats and a dog. They're "siblings" and my parents act as if I am also one of their siblings.
11. All the attention was on you.
Enough said.
