With the weather outside growing more and more frightful every day, we often find ourselves locked inside to avoid the cold and snow. However, we cannot let that hinder our ability to heat up the winter months with some romantic activities. If you're at a loss for plans this holiday season, look no further. Here are ten winter date ideas for you to try out.

1. Baking

The holidays are a prime time to bake a ton of sweets. Add someone special to the mix, and you've got a recipe for an adorable evening of culinary adventures.

2. Go Hunting For Lights

If driving conditions are safe, jump in the car and embark on an expedition to find the best-lit homes in the area.

3. Go Hiking

To some this may sound horrible. However, walking in a winter wonderland can be absolutely stunning, especially hand in hand. Just don't slip!

4. Snow Activities

Channel your childhood and go build snowmen, make snow angels, and have a snowball fight. Showing your significant other that you can be silly together is a great way to connect on a deeper level.

5. Fireside Chats

(Note: This only works if you have access to a fireplace) Cuddling up next to a fire is a great way to combat the cold outside. Add some hot cocoa or tea to the situation for extra warmth.

6. Concerts, Orchestras or Other Performances

Whether it be a pop artist's concert or a ballet performance of "The Nutcracker", showbiz is popping during the holiday season, and tickets are a perfect gift to surprise to your significant other.

7. Bentleyville (and other holiday light shows)

While this holiday season will be filled with wonder and many whimsical opportunities, there is no place more fantastical than a snowy lane filled with glimmering lights.

8. Ice Skating

What better way to hold someone's hand than to help them after they've fallen. Bundling up and showing off your skills on the ice is a romantic way to become close with your date and glide through the winter months.

9. Holiday Shopping

Build some trust and share style secrets with your partner during this season. Hopefully you can sneak away to find them the perfect gift.

10. Holiday Decorating

Merge your holiday traditions and decorate those trees, menorahs, and other holiday favorites together. Whoever can tie the best present bow gets to lick the spoon when you eventually make holiday cookies.

Winter brings the human race together as we seek that special someone to comfort us as we find warmth near the hearth. These activities cannot ensure a stout love, but are assuredly a way to be open and fun. As the flurries rush down on the window frames, remember that there is a magic in the air that should be taken advantage of. Don't be afraid to hold hands, sing songs, and be merry.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine.
