In the midst of college chaos, stress can easily arise. Especially going back to school after a long, enjoyable, winter break and having to acclimate to new professors and classes. But, I can ensure you that there are ways to handle this stress you may feel.
Here are 10 simples way to manage your stress as a college student:
1. Keep a diffuser in your room
Choose the scent you want to release in your room, which will determine your mood. Need to sleep? Lavender is perfect for that. Have a cold? Try some peppermint oil!
2. Keep a calendar
Every college student is busy busy busy. Stay organized and on top of everything. Keep a calendar of upcoming tests, homework assignments, work, anything that occurs on a weekly basis. This will make you feel way more organized and less overwhelmed.
3. Keep a notebook
Make lists. Every morning write a list of things you need to accomplish within the day. When the day is over, check off what you accomplished and leave what you did not accomplish for the next day. This will make you feel very productive and less stressed.
4. Color in an adult coloring book
Be your 10 year old self again. Whip out that adult coloring book and take a few moments. This is one of the best ways to relax no matter how old you are.
5. Workout on a daily basis
Get your booty to the gym! "I can't workout." Oh let me tell you, "Yes you can." Exercise can vary from a walk to weight lifting, but be sure to do some form of workout to make your physical health feel good. Feeling good equates to less stress and more relaxation.
6. Eat healthy
There is a big difference between eating chocolate chip pancakes every morning versus a healthy yogurt. Sure, pancakes are good once in a while, but eating healthy will allow your body to feel good, which will them contribute to being less stressed about another aspect in life.
7. Get enough sleep
Sleep is the most important part of being a college student. Every student's day is filled with busy work and on-the-go activities, but be sure to wake up on the right side of the bed, in a good mood with an optimistic mindset.
8. Take a break from school work
Give yourself some free time when drowning in homework. Take a thirty minute TV break. It will ease your mind.
9. Hang with friends
Go see the people who make you smile the most and forget about your worries. Laugh off your stress with some friendly faces.
10. Breathe!
