10 Ways To Channel Your Inner Badass

I don’t care if you’re a guy or a girl, young or old. You need to have self-confidence and feel like you run the world (quoting everyone’s favorite, Beyoncé). Anyway, knowing that you can be a little spitfire and stand up for yourself is one of the best feelings. It is so important to feel like you are in charge of your own happiness and can get things done in any way you need to. That’s why it’s OK to channel your inner wild side. It’s OK to channel your hidden badass personality! Here's how to do it.

  1. Man or woman up and go after what you want. #noregrets
  2. Go big or go home. No one wants to feel like they haven’t tried their hardest!
  3. Step out of your comfort zone. Nothing is worse than feeling like you’re stuck in a rut. Do something you would never do. Buy a funky pair of shoes or go to a concert you never thought you would.
  4. Be spontaneous! Things don’t have to be scheduled all of the time. Take a road trip or chop your hair off and get a trendy new do. It’s all about rolling with the punches!
  5. Do a new sport, hobby or exercise. Nothing is worse than feeling like you haven’t grown or changed in a long time. If you feel bored, switch it up. Instead of a Zumba class, try some Yoga.
  6. Know that nothing lasts forever! Make changes if you wish to see them. Nothing happens unless you make a change. Changes don’t miraculously appear overnight.
  7. Don’t doubt yourself. Be who you are and don’t care what others say or think about you.
  8. Know that it’s OK to make mistakes because, after all, you’ll eventually learn from them. We all mess up and move on.
  9. Be bold. Be beautiful (or handsome!). Don’t limit yourself. If you want to dye your hair neon pink or wear magenta lipstick, do what makes you happy. Don’t let anyone stop you. Don’t conform to society’s ideal of “normal.” What is normal, anyway? Break boundaries and don’t set limits for yourself.
  10. Lastly, channel your inner badass whenever possible -- you only live once, so you might as well do it right.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
