We've all been there when we have two exams in one day and not enough time to eat or sleep. But after all the hard work and late nights, I think as students we deserve to rest up a bit and eat whatever we want. Not that we should skip our classes and binge watch Netflix, but just to enjoy small things that we usually aren't able to during exam weeks.
1. Bubble Baths
Maybe this is just coming from a girls perspective, but there is nothing better than turning on your favorite music while getting in a warm tub with a calming bath bomb. It almost warms up your soul in a scene because it just makes you feel good all over. For those of you who have never had a bubble bath, I highly recommend it after all your tests.
2. Yoga
Yoga is such a healthy way to release any stress or tension you have in your body. I get pretty bad anxiety the week of my tests, and doing even 30 minutes of yoga during my tests really helps clear it up. After tests is so uplifting because you over came those exams and are now able to just breathe. I don't know about you, but I sometimes feel as if I hold my breath during crunch time and it's nice to be able to release it all.
3. Have a game night
Grab your closest friends and plan a game night the Saturday after all your exams. This really uplifts your spirit with how much laughing you'll be doing all night, and depending on what games there are to play, you may let out some anger too.
4. Regain your nutrition
This is a huge deal even when your not taking exams, but sometimes we forget to eat as students. Either we're cramming for an exam or have homework piling up it's crucial that you gain back eating on some form of a schedule. It's not healthy to skip meals, especially when you have to maintain focus.
5. Sleep
One of the worst habits students have is not sleeping enough. If you get enough sleep after all your exams are over, you'll feel much more charged and ready to take on your next task at hand.
6. Go to school functions
This relates to #3, but going to school functions is a crucial part of being a student. If you aren't putting yourself out there and trying to get involved on campus, then you won't feel a part of something outside of your studies. This is a time to meet new people and to explore life on your own, don't waste an opportunity because you're too anxious about your scores.
7. Take a road trip
While being at home watching Netflix is great, you also want to be able to see the world around you, or maybe just the state(s). Taking a road trip with a few friends or even family can be a great experience. You get to see nature and the fresh air will definitely help clear your mind from the weeks before with all the stress buildup.
8. Play in a sport
Even if it's just for fun and not for competitiveness, this helps relieve your stress and maybe anger towards your exams. It gets you out of your comfort zone. You'll probably make a fool of yourself, but at least there's something to laugh at and remember.
9. Invest in essential oils
It's so nice being able to put a few drops of lavender on my neck or even into the dryer with my clothes. The smell really calms me down before and after exams.
10. Find a new music group
There is something so satisfying about finding a new artist that inspires you to feel music. Anything that uplifts you and helps you get pumped and motivated is what you should start listening to!
