Whether you're in the middle of finals or you're done with them, there's always something to procrastinate doing. After the slowest Dead Week and Finals Week of my five semesters of college, I've devised a list of better things to do than just wishing finals were over.
Maybe you don't feel like studying, or you need a break from studying, or you're bored/stressed/lonely/distracted/etc. here are some ideas to make some good out of not doing what you're supposed to be doing.
1. Treat yo self
If you're not gonna take care of your grades/responsibilities, you might as well take care of your health. Bathe yourself, groom yourself, whatever you have to do. Might as well look good and feel good if your grades aren't going to.
2. Exercise
Sometimes (OK, almost always) studying gets stressful. Exercising is a great way to relieve that stress, and be healthy. It's a win-win, and definitely more productive than sitting around on your phone. If you're up for it, you can even try studying while you exercise.
3. Catch Up on Sleep
No matter how much you study, it won't matter if you don't sleep and can't remember anything. Get cozy, take a nap, reboot and try again later.
4. Clean Something
Clean your room, clean your backpack, clean your hard drive, whatever needs cleaning. It might clear your head, or make you realize that you would rather study than clean.
5. Make Winter Break Plans
Make a list, check it twice, something like that. Call/text your friends and make plans to talk about all the great things you did this semester that weren't studying.
6. Figure Out How Not to Overpack
I still haven't mastered this one. I spent a lot of time trying to do this instead of studying for Philosophy. So if you're up for the challenge and not up for rereading your lecture notes, go for it.
7. Study for a Different Exam
So you have an exam/task tomorrow but you can't possibly shove any more information for it into your head. Why not study for something else? It's not as fun as calling your friends from back home but it's something else to do.
8. Try a New Craft/Hobby
You can, in fact, trade your textbook for a book you actually care about. It'll take your mind off of whatever you can't bear to focus on.
