10 Ways You Just KNOW It's Finals Season

Between late night study sessions and nonstop caffeine, it's pretty clear what time of year it is.

As a first semester freshman, this is my first time going through the whole finals process.

Sure, I've now taken and survived midterms, and prior to this year of course I've taken finals and big exams like that in high school, but this is different. Finals are just that-final. If you mess these up, that's it, there's no next test to try and scrounge around for extra points somewhere. This, of course, means more stress. It also means the end of the semester is near, though.

So hey, that's a plus at least. Below, ten ways you know it's finals season:

1. Your entire Snapchat feed is suddenly full of pictures from the library.

Seriously, since when do that many people even go to the library? The real question is: are people even studying in there, or are they just posting videos about how much they need to study? The world may never know...or actually I guess you could know if you go to the library, too.

2. Everyone around you is either studying, eating, or sleeping.

There is no in-between. You are either doing one of these activities or maybe just crying about how much work you still have to do. So many great options, amiright?

3. But, there will also be that one person who just doesn't study.

We all know this person. It doesn't matter how much work everyone around them seems to have, but somehow this person just never studies. Finals week to this guy means business (and by that I mean Netflix) as usual. You are both in awe and completely envious of this person. The worst part is that this guy usually does well all the same, without studying.

4. Sweats.

An unprecedented amount of sweatshirts and sweatpants will make their way into the limelight this finals season. Jeans just don't do it for late night study sessions.

5. Sleep habits will change.

Be it through staying up late to study or waking up early-again, to study-this week is unlikely to coincide with your typical sleeping schedule. Maybe this just means extra naps or even going to bed earlier to get a better night's rest than usual, but regardless, it probably isn't the normal routine.

6. Procrastination.

This one is a spin-off on the whole studying issue. The problem is that with so much pressure to study, naturally, your only response is to reach new levels of procrastination. This is a dangerous game.

7. Snacks/Caffeinated beverages will take on a whole new meaning.

God bless the creator of Oreos, coffee, and anything else that will give an unhealthy kind of sugar or caffeine rush. The other day, a girl in my class walked in and exclaimed that she had just drank an energy drink and felt like she was going to die. Gotta love finals!

8. You will seriously contemplate dropping out of school.

With so much last minute work to do, excessive studying, and any other stress you may have on top of all this, you will start to question not only your education, but also your existence as a whole. I don't think I need to say anymore on this one.

9. Days have never felt so long.

With only about a week until you're home free and winter break begins, it seems odd that each day between now and then feels like a full week in of itself. Can someone please explain this?

10. The countdown is real.

Every time you think to yourself how many more days it will be until finals are over, you feel a little happier. Although the days do feel long, you know that the end is in sight and this keeps you sane. You're almost done and will never have to go through this scarring experience again...until next semester, that is.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
