Most of us in college are away from home for them before the upcoming holidays. Being homesick is one of the downsides of adulting whether you are a few hundred miles from home or a few states away. These are a few ways you can bring your home to your dorm!

1. Seasonal Door Decor

2. Lights

Regular lights, colorful lights, Christmas lights.. light up your dorm just the way mom does every year.

3. Family/Friend Pics

Placing pictures in your dorm or around your room of family and friends will help remind you of memories that will make you feel closer to home.

4. Making Seasonal Food

Look up some seasonal recipes for creative holiday snacks and pastries that can easily be made with a microwave in your dorm. Your roommates and taste buds won't regret it.

5. Home Countdown

Creating a quick countdown until you go home will make the anticipation of seeing your loved ones greater

6. Movie Marathons

Who doesn't love Hallmark movie marathons??

7. Crafts

Bring out the scissors and glue and make your own seasonal decor that's cute and personalized. #Pinterestworthy

8. Bring traditions to the dorm

Share holiday traditions you did at home with your roomies and college friends!

9. Air Fresheners/Scents

There is nothing more like home then wall plug-ins (no candles!!), lotions, and soaps with fragrances like pumpkin spice, french vanilla, and honey apple!

10. Keep Friends Close

Being away from home is hard enough, but keeping roomies and friends close by during the holidays will make it so much easier until it's time to come home. Invite a few friends over and make your dorm as warm and cozy as you please.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register.
