UNC Every Nation Campus

As of 2015, UNC Chapel Hill is home to over 18,000 undergraduate students. With so many students coming from a variety of backgrounds, the diversity makes it seem as though there is little in common with all 18,000 of us.

Whether currently enrolled or alumni, the one thing that we all share is the Tarheel experience. Here's a short list detailing some things all Carolina students know to be true.

1. The bricks. The bricks are out for your life.

A beautiful landscape in all seasons, but every student will trip or fall at the hands of those bricks at least once in their undergrad experience. Just let it happen, we've all been there.

2. There's nothing like gorging yourself at late-night.

Sure I have two papers and an exam tomorrow, but heck yeah I'm going to get some 11 p.m. waffles. This is honestly one of the greatest Carolina ideas ever.

3. UL, P2P, RU, U, CUAB, YoPo, SRC, etc.

We should get a language credit for being fluent in abbreviations.

4. Eating lunch on the steps of Wilson is a bonding experience.

Or studying, reading, talking, really anything. If you don't hang out with your friends on these steps once in a while, you're missing out. It's a beautiful view of the quad -- also ideal for people-watching.

5. Speaking of great views, the view from the eighth floor of Davis.

One of the best views on campus. If you can get past the eerie/intense silence up there, it's so worth it.

6. Finding all the good eats on Franklin.

Literally any type of food you could think of is on Franklin Street. From ToPo to Spicy 9, there's a little something for everyone.

7. UNC's frozen yogurt crown-and-jewel, YoPo.

Sure, Ben & Jerry's may be just around the corner, but you can't beat the price of this incredible froyo. Oh, and don't compare it to Sweet Frog. There's no competition.

8. You know how to stuff a backpack full of free stuff.

I'm looking at you, Fall Fest. Between all the free totes, water bottles, t-shirts, and buttons, we know how to get some swag.

9. Finally finding your perfect study spot is like finding a little slice of Heaven.

Also, can we talk about how Carolina has a ton of hidden gems that look like Hogwarts?

10. Who couldn't love being a Tarheel?

The school pride here is incredible. There's such a comradery around campus. We're Tar Heels born, Tar Heels bred and Tar Heels dead.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
