We all get stressed to the point of no return. Sometimes stressful days become stressful weeks and we don't know what to do to help us relax. A lot of the time, we are stressed because we have too many things on our plates, and too many tasks to complete. So here are some quick and easy things to help relieve that stress.
1. Light a candle
This is so simple to do and always helps me calm down just a little bit. Light your favorite one! It's September, so it's the perfect excuse to start buying ones that smell like October (everyone's favorites): the pumpkin, spice apple, etc.
2. Listen to calming music
There are so many playlists on Spotify for certain moods you are in. One of my favorites to listen to currently is called Atmospheric Acoustic. It's all soothing and calming acoustic songs that help me relax while doing homework, writing, or even just a couple seconds to do some deep breathing.
3. Make a to-do list!
I know this will take a little more time, but it is so satisfying to be able to cross something off when you have completed the task. I always make sure I write down something I've already completed, that way it doesn't seem as taunting.
4. Drink some tea or coffee
Whenever I am writing, doing homework or studying, it always helps me to have coffee or tea by my side. There's something about a warm mug by your side that is so comforting.
5. Go outside
Sometimes getting a nice breath of fresh air is just the trick. Go for a walk, dance in the rain for ten minutes, open your window, or bring your homework outside. Sometimes a change of scenery is super helpful.
6. Go for a short ride
Need some dinner? Or maybe you need to take a quick Walgreens run? Do it. Sometimes letting all the windows down in the car, jamming to motivational music and singing along is just the thing to help relieve stress.
7. Take a bath
There is absolutely nothing better than taking a warm bubble bath to help calm stress.
8. Write
This may be not so easy for some, but I know it helps me to lay out all my emotions on paper. Getting it all out of my chest and system relieves a lot of stress.
9. Take time out of your day to do one thing you enjoy
Sometimes when we are so busy and caught up, we forget to do the things that make us happiest. Play your guitar for an hour, go on a run, watch Netflix for an hour of your favorite show, or bake! Remind yourself of the things that make you happy.
10. Breathe
Remind yourself to take deep breaths and that everything will be okay. This is the most important thing we need to remind ourselves to do. It's something we forget we need sometimes.
