Since Thanksgiving is just around the corner, most of us will be driving to taking a ride home to enjoy some time with friends and family. A day where we can all relax, see family members, watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade, eat food, and remember everything in our lives that we are thankful for. However, with this extended weekend comes traveling to and from the places where the Thanksgiving feast will be (depending if you are traveling home or not.) On your way to your location, there may be some questions you ask yourself if you find yourself alone and stuck in traffic.

1. What relatives will I see?

Coming from a big family, I tend to always ask myself this question. And other people from large families will agree because sometimes families don't get along too well. Also, if too many people show up, you may not know if your house will hold everyone comfortably.

2. Who is bringing what food?

Are they making food? Did that order food for Thanksgiving? Were we supposed to bring food? Without coordinating the foods and who makes what dish, Thanksgiving dinner could turn out to be a chaotic disaster.

3. Why can't the holiday be longer?

Even though most students will get a 4 days weekend and some working adults may get anywhere from 4-2 days off, during the holiday time, everyone wants to just stay home and relax.

4. Do I have to go Black Friday shopping?

We all know it. The night and day after Thanksgiving. The day that all retail stores dread. Black Friday. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, it is that time of year again. The day that almost everything in every store is on sale. It really depends if your family is that into getting caught up in the shopping madness.

5. What kinds of questions will my family ask me?

This is a good question to think about. If you have been away for so long, like work or college, your family will most likely want to know what has been going on in your life, since you've been gone. Let's just hope they don't ask anything too embarrassing.

6. Am I going to be able to watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade?

One of the highlights of Thanksgiving, besides eating food, is watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. This show brings together live entertainment, like marching bands, Broadway shows, and the Rockets. Plus, giant balloons and floats. What more could put you in the holiday spirit?

7. Did I forget to bring anything?

If you make plans with your family this Thanksgiving, remember to bring everything that you were asked to contribute. Don't be the odd one out that ruins the feast.

8. Am I going to be stuck doing the dishes?

Midday Thanksgiving always includes football. Just hope that your family doesn't watch the game and leave you with all the dishes.

9. Would there be anything that I can't/ won't eat?

Allergies may be another thing to think about when it comes to Thanksgiving. Just think about what foods may be present and if you are allergic to anything, ahead of time.

10. What am I thankful for?

The most important question on Thanksgiving Day. This day celebrates everything there is to be thankful for in your life. Is it your health? Your wealth? Your family? Your friends? Your success? Whatever it may be, just be happy.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
