Fact: having to leave your freshman year memories behind as you pack up you dorm, say goodbye to your out-of-state friends and leave your college campus for three months is disappointing. The end of the school year is always chaotic and often resembles the episode of Stress Relief where Dwight's too-realistic fire alarm gives Stanley a heart attack.
Without further ado, here are some things you may experience your final days as a freshman and some thoughts you might have running through your head throughout the last few moments of freshman year the way Michael Scott runs from his responsibilities.
1. Your dorm building on the last day to check out will be the most chaotic you've ever seen it.
Every elevator is full, the parking lot is packed and you'll start to realize you totally underestimated how much stuff you actually have packed in that tiny room. It'll truly be a workout getting all your stuff out before you get that late check-out fee.
2. While moving out, this might be you after you realize Command hooks and strips actually do cause damage from time to time and wonder how you're going to pay for damage fees.
3. You'll probably dread saying goodbye to the out-of-state friends you made as you won't see them until August.
4. You might feel like Kelly when you do better than you thought on a final exam you thought you would bomb.
5. ...Or you might feel like Michael when you fail an exam you thought you would totally ace.
Yikes. Don't cry because it happened, smile because it's over.
6. LDOC will be a celebration of the last essays, exams, lab reports or online homework assignments you'll ever have to complete...
...Until next semester, at least.
7. You realize you were too busy with schoolwork to work on getting you bikini summer bod.
Hopefully you can get back in shape in, like, a week in time for summer vacation.
8. When thinking of coming back to your hometown for three months, you're nervous to see how much has changed while you were gone.
You might even feel a tad estranged, but don't forget that that's totally okay.
9. As happy as you are to be done with schoolwork, you might feel lapses of sadness on your final days of your first year.
10. As you finally check out of your dorm and leave campus for good, you'll wonder where all the time had gone.
I remember thinking back to all the memorable experiences made this past year as I handed over my dorm keys and walked out for good, knowing I won't ever be able to relive the moments of this year ever again. Andrew Bernard encapsulates my feelings perfectly.
So as you leave freshman year, remember that a whole new set of experiences awaits in your future and never forget to cherish the friendships and memories you made throughout one of your most vital years of freedom, youth and coming of age.
