10 Thoughts Every Freshman Has During The First Week Of Classes
Hello Giggles

"Adulting" is a hard thing to do. For those not currently in college, here is how a student would describe their thoughts and feelings towards college and becoming an adult.

1. Walking to an 8 am class...these stairs will be the death of me.

Why does it seem like every class is on the 3rd floor? Please tell me which students have all of their classes on the first floor. My favorite part is how we are given elevators, but they just taunt us because if you take one you know you're going to be late for class.

2. Why do I need 12 textbooks that cost $600...when I only have 5 classes.

Is it just me or is the price for a textbook ridiculous? Since when did supplying the information needed for you to study become as much as the tuition. All I know is I'll be eating Ramen noodles a lot.

3. Finishing the first week of class and thinking.. how many days until break?

Counting down the days to fall break is my favorite past time. Nothing against college, I love it. But the homework... not so much.

4. Missing your cat.

I can't be the only one.

5. Trying to figure out laundry...

This is a foreign language I am not capable of comprehending. Theres just so many unanswered questions. How much soap? How many dryer sheets? Do I really have to separate lights from darks?

6. Runing out of netflix before the end of the semester.

As much as I need to be doing homework, I always cath myself watching netflix...

7. Missing your dog.

Everybody needs a companion.

8. Being able to eat whatever you want because mom and dad aren't around.

I can't be the only one who has already eaten at 10 different places just because they can now. Ice cream is a must have and easy mac is no longer limited to when your parents aren't already cooking a dinner.

9. Realizing a heard of elephants lives above you.

Maybe its just me... but I swear the people above me don't go to bed.

10. Thinking about working out... but never actually doing it.

Every morning I wake up to an alarm set and labeled "workout" I dismiss it, roll over, and go back to bed. I know Im not the only one.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
