10 Things You've Definitely Said If You Grew Up With Siblings

Growing up with siblings has its ups and downs. Of course, you’re going to get into arguments over who’s turn it is to wash the dishes, take out the trash or clean the bathroom, but nothing is better than the relationship you have with them.

If you grew up with siblings, here are 10 things you’ve definitely said before:

1. "I call shower first."

More likely than not, if you grew up with siblings, you shared a bathroom. It was always a race to get to the shower first, so you can use the last bit of hot water and shampoo.

2. "I'm telling mom."

The most threatening words a sibling can say to the other. It will immediately shut them up, for the fear of what mom will do.

3. "I call shotgun."

Whether you’re going to the grocery store, the mall or grandmoms house, if that front seat was open, you immediately would turn into an Olympic track runner and body check them out the way to get there first.

4. "Can you get me more toilet paper?"

The best thing about sharing a bathroom AND having a sibling is when you run out of toilet paper while on the toilet they’re always there to get you more!

5. "Can I borrow this?"

Whether it’s your sister’s shirt or your brother’s charger, you’ve definitely asked to borrow something of theirs while growing up. Or if you’re like me, you just took it without asking.

6. "I was here first."

You've definitely said this when your sibling wanted to change the channel you were watching on the T.V.

7. "Want me to kick his ass?"

Whether you’re a protective older brother or sister or you’re a protective little sister like myself, you’ve definitely offered to kick the jerk’s ass that hurt your sibling.

8."Mom said ___."

When you’ve had an argument about who can take the car or who can choose the TV station, the stop to the argument was always what “mom said” could happen, cause no one can argue with that.

9. "Ugh, mom and dad are being so annoying."

The best part about having siblings, is you always have someone on your side, and someone you can go to complain to when mom and dad are being “so annoying.”

One thing you should say:

10. "Thank you for everything."

Even though they can get on your nerves sometimes, nothing is better than having a sibling. They will always have your back and no matter what you will always have a friend.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
