As somebody with anxiety, I can tell you that there are certain difficulties that come with dating us. If you date us; you have to be prepared for the good, and the bad. And sometimes, it seems like there is a lot more bad than there is good.
1. We will push you away.
Even if we do not intend to, we act out for no reason.
2. We are constantly scared.
Even if you have given us no reason to be, we are always scared that you will leave us with nothing
3. We love stronger.
We will be drawn to you and we will always want you to love us.
4. We cry harder.
We hate crying in front of others, but, if we do cry in front of you, they will be hard, sloppy, ugly tears.
5. If we ask you to order for us when we're out to eat, please do it.
It will not be pleasant for anybody if we have a panic attack in the middle of a restaurant and we would just rather not have that debacle to worry about.
6. We try our hardest at everything.
Even if we don't have to, we still try our best for our significant others.
7. It doesn't help us when you say the words ‘calm down.’
In fact, if you tell us to calm down, we'll just get more anxious and irrational. It will constantly make us feel belittled.
8. We don't want you to tell us that it's going to be okay.
We want you to just stay in the silence with us, and, depending on the person, you can hold us and try to distract us.
9. If we do not ask you to, please do not touch us when we are having an anxiety attack.
It will likely make us lash out at you, which will just give us more anxiety later in the day.
10. We wish we weren't like this.
We wish we could do anything and say anything without feeling completely and utterly stupid later. We wish we could do the things that all our friends are able to do with no problems. We just can't. We hate that.
Please understand when we say, we wish we didn't have to be like this.
