Ten Things You Should Do Daily

We are often caught up in the stresses of school or work, or schoolwork, but we cannot forget to take some time for ourselves to do the things we love.

Eat, school, work, sleep. Eat, school, work... Often times, we get wrapped up in the work we must do, and forget to spare some time for ourselves to accomplish the simple tasks we should do. Here is a list of things we usually forget to do in the midst of work overload but should keep in mind:

1. Spend time on your appearance.

This is definitely optional, but if you wish, spend time doing your makeup or hair, or putting a nice outfit together. Start your day off looking and feeling confident. If spending some extra time on your appearance helps with that, then do it!

2. Compliment someone.

There's something so refreshing about giving compliments in a world filled with so much judgment. Whether it's an acquaintance or a close friend, send someone a compliment. Not only will it start their day on a good note but yours as well!

3. Eat more fruit.

Maybe you aren't a fan of veggies, honestly neither am I, but packing a fruit salad for school or work will keep you full and energized throughout the day. It is easy to snack on, doesn't make a mess, and in my opinion, a more appetizing option than vegetables.

4. Read the news.

You don't need to buy a physical newspaper. Chances are, you have some sort of social media account, and that works perfectly fine too! Take at least fifteen minutes to read the latest news on Twitter or Facebook. Reading the news each day will make you a bit more informed than the day before. So get on it.

5. Exercise.

Basic yoga, or an hour workout, set aside at least 15 minutes to get up and get your body moving. It's likely that if you're working in an office or attending a class, you're sitting for the majority of the day. Even just taking a walk around the building can boost your energy and keep you running for the day!

6. Listen to music.

Find a free weekend to make a playlist for the month that fits you and your music taste. You probably can't listen to music while you're at work or school, but you can listen on the way there and relieve any stress you might be feeling!

7. Do something for yourself.

This is a broad one. When you're overloaded with schoolwork or stuck in the stress of work, you often forget to continue doing the things you are genuinely passionate about. Whatever your hobby is, do it. It can be painting, reading, watching shows, dancing, anything that you truly enjoy doing.

8. Stay hydrated.

Keep a bottle of water with you everywhere you go, and try to consume at least one full bottle of water per day!

9. Learn something new.

No matter where you are or what you're doing, try to learn something everyday whether it's just a random fact, or a lesson from a classmate or colleague. Keep your mind open to learning new things unintentionally!

10. Drink a cup of tea.

Most of us know that drinking coffee regularly isn't great for our teeth and our health. However, tea is another great option that will keep you awake but also benefit your health.

Above are only ten things that you should do everyday, but there are so many more options. Figure out what will help you stay energized, be optimistic, and keep you healthy throughout the day, and do it as often as you can!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
