When most people think of quiet, reserved, and shy people, they assume that they only hang out by themselves and never want to be a part of the social world. While we quiet human beings appreciate our alone time to recharge, our shyness doesn't mean that we don't enjoy getting out of the house every once in a while. Here are 10 things you know if you're a quiet person who also enjoys being social.

1. When people who are used to seeing only your quiet side see your social side, they're often shocked.

2. You always want to let people know that you're willing to go out, because they wouldn't know it otherwise.

3. When you get in social situations, it may take a few minutes for you to warm up to people.

4. This makes the first few minutes at a social gathering extremely awkward.

5. When you arrive at an event, you might think to yourself "I shouldn't have come here."

6. You appreciate that one person that always helps to bring you into the conversation until you're comfortable enough to stand on your own.

7. Sometimes you are that person for other people, because you know how uncomfortable it can be.

8. Your good friends know that when you're being especially quiet when you're hanging out, that something might be wrong.

9. You can always rely on those friends to know that you want to be there, you may just be in your head.

10. Even though you like to go out, you know you'll definitely need some time by yourself afterwards.

I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
