As I start my third year, I feel there are certain aspects of campus life that should be mentioned. People always say that you miss the little things in life the most because they are what matter, and so far I have noticed a couple of the aforementioned “little things” that I know for sure I will miss.
1.The fearless women that strut un-level gravel paths with a 3-inch heel kind of bravery. Air crisp around them, their minds ever incisive.
2.Pastel comfort colored shirts plastered in Greek lettering completed by Hallmark sandals-the finishing touch on an outfit with an ode to the word “Hallmark”.
3.The many squirrel whisperers who do an amazing job of taming the somewhat thuggish and demanding little critters, especially the one little squirrel that had the audacity to steal my overpriced bagel once.
4.“Hello’s” from a girl whose name was on the tip of my tongue-can’t remember if her name started with an “s” or an “A”, but she never looped her “y’s” and smells a bit like lavender.
5.The whiff of cotton candy carcinogenic clouds poisoning my lungs around the narrow pathway in between the Art and the Architecture Buildings.
6. Swarms of DOC members with dreams of monogrammed white coats, and M.D. beside their names.
7. The boy in my philosophy class that drew out all of the great scholars as clowns in the margins of his paper. Thanks for that, you were one of the few reasons I did not fall asleep.
8. Umbrellas that serve no purpose other than to be held decoratively because the monsoon like rain falls diagonally onto students with their minds already drenched.
9. Wearing ugly Christmas sweaters in 80 degrees Fahrenheit weather. The carbs from my bagels could not possibly defeat me when I walked around as a human sauna.
10. Freezing to death in Roy G. Cullen, and despite the fact that I have had classes here repeatedly I continue to forget a jacket.
These are just a few things that I have racked up on my list of memories from College so far, and I’m sure I will have much more to add to this list as my year progresses but for now, here is a very small list of “little thing".
