Have you ever wondered what's going on in another person's mind? That's how I feel every time my vegan diet comes up in a discussion.
People tend to look down on vegans with disdain, believing them to be pretentious jerks that believe every single word PETA says.
Spoiler alert: Most of us aren't, and these are the things that we're sick of hearing.
1. Where do you get your protein?
Many foods that are considered vegan have an adequate amount of protein such as beans, lentils, nuts, and spinach.
2. I'm so sorry.
This is a personal choice, it’s not like I’m being held at gunpoint and being told to change my diet and lifestyle.
3. Then what do you eat?
Anything without meat, dairy, or other animal products.
4. But what about X?
Does it have an animal or animal products in it? If yes, I don’t eat it. If no, I’ll (probably) eat it.
5. I could never do it.
Don’t worry, you don’t have to!
6. Good for you!
I don’t need a medal for choosing to have a certain lifestyle.
7. But it's in our blood!
Actually, our ancestors’ diet composed of mostly nuts, fruits, and insects.
8. Vegan food is weird.
It’s weird to eat a burger made of chickpeas and beans? You’re literally eating the ribs of another animal.
9. I would be vegan, but it's so expensive.
Really? How much does a bag of rice cost?
10. Why?
I love animals, I love the environment, and I care about my health.
