You’re sitting at your desk or on your bed, getting ready to do some homework when you look to the side and see that your television is staring at you, just begging you to watch it. So you turn on the television and get ready to watch Netflix. But what should you watch?! This article will give you 10 different things to watch on Netflix when you REALLY need to procrastinate.
1. Big Eyes
I accidentally happened upon this movie during a Netflix search one night. The movie is set in the 1950s and 60s and revolves around the true story about artist Walter Keane (Christoph Waltz) who achieved fame with his portraits of saucer-eyed children. The kicker is it’s his wife, Margaret (Amy Adams), who does the painting!
The truth comes out when the marriage ends and Margaret sues her husband. This movie is an interesting comedy for someone who is looking to watch something they haven’t seen before. Plus—Christoph Waltz is an amazing actor.
2. Chewing Gum
I saw a clip of this television series on Facebook one day and immediately knew I had to see it. It’s a British comedy set in London about a virgin 24-year-old girl who lives a religious life but desperately wants to have sex. This show provides a raunchy side to a late-bloomer while being ABSOLUTELY hilarious. I recommend this to literally every person I know and love.
3. Finding Dory
This doesn’t exactly need any explanation. However, Finding Dory is hands-down one of the best sequels created by Pixar. Finding Dory makes me cry, every time. Plus, Ellen is EVERYONE’S woman crush.
4. The Imitation Game
Great movie to procrastinate while also providing some brain power. This movie is a true story about the creation of the computer by Alan Turing (Benedict Cumberbatch). Turing invents the computer when the secret British Intelligence Agency, MI6, needs to crack Enigma—an unbreakable Nazi code. A big kicker in the film? Turing is gay, and being gay is illegal in Britain.
5. Sausage Party
A movie about a bunch of talking food in a grocery store, what could be better?! Frank (Seth Rogen) the sausage and Brenda (Kristen Wiig) the hot dog bun fall in love and accidentally crash the grocery cart they’re in, sending them and other products to the floor.
Their antics create chaos when a douche is damaged and is no longer able to do what he was made for. Frank and Brenda are on the run when they learn the truth about what lies outside the grocery store. The products gang together to defeat the humans and take back their grocery store.
6. Friends
Friends is hands-down the greatest television show in existence of television shows. Chandler and Monica are relationship goals, Rachel is fashion goals, Phoebe is carefree goals, Ross is intelligence goals, and who wouldn’t want Joey to hit on them? If you need a break from homework to laugh and clear your head, Friends is the way to go.
7. Bob Ross: Beauty is Everywhere
Don’t judge this one. I used to judge that my friends would sit and watch this when I would visit, but I sat down and really fell in love with the idea of this show. Bob Ross’ voice is just relaxing. When you’re stressing from the papers and presentations piling up, I suggest Bob Ross. It’s also a great thing to make you realize all of the little mistakes in your life are nothing—change them into happy little birds.
Also, the dude has pet squirrels. PET. FREAKING. SQUIRRELS. No one is better than Bob Ross. He should be president.
8. Grease
Danny and Sandy aren’t exactly goals—she literally changes every aspect of who she is to please a guy, please don’t ever do that—but it is honestly the best musical to sing along to. Distract yourself from the homework and sing about Summer Nights and Grease Lightning. Plus, Rizzo makes you feel like you can accomplish ANYTHING.
9. Big Mouth
If you need a laugh while finishing that 14-page paper about marketing, Big Mouth is the way to go. The show is a comedy about teenagers finding their lives changing from their beginning of puberty. The show is informing and hilarious.
10. Grey’s Anatomy
Everyone knows what Grey’s is, and I can’t lie—I absolutely despised the show and refused to watch it for years. But then I had to see what all of the hype was about, and it’s addicting. It’s not great acting when they first start out, and it doesn’t get too much better. But it is an enticing storyline.
Grey’s Anatomy is the kind of show you can use to procrastinate for a while – or as my roommate says: “Procrastinate for the entire semester.” Do you want to cry? Watch it. Do you want to listen to some beautiful covers of songs? Watch it. It’s a great thing to watch whenever you need to procrastinate because you can pick it up whenever.
So, get your Netflix ready, put the books away, and take a break. You deserve it.
