It probably sounds rather odd to be talking about fall when it is still 95+ degrees outside, but it is coming whether we are ready or not. Fall signifies a new semester at school, but this season offers a lot to look forward to as we are wrapping up summer. Here is a list of what to look forward to as fall is beginning.
1. Pumpkin Spice Lattes
Okay, call me a basic girl but seriously pumpkin spice lattes are one of the best things ever. This drink is literally perfect for anytime of the day whether it is the start of your morning, going to class or as dessert. So seriously, stop by your local Starbucks or 7-11 and taste what fall is all about! PSA: 7-11 has some amazing Pumpkin Spice Lattes (yes, I am a little biased).
2. Sweater Weather
Tis the season of “Sweater Weather.” On a cool, fall crisp day you can grab your favorite sweater and pair it with a pair your cutest boots. I am a big fan of sweaters because they are both fashionable and comfortable. I mean what is there not to love about sweaters?
3. Halloween
I look forward to dressing up in cute costumes and having an excuse to eat a lot of candy. Plus, the little trick or treaters are priceless. I also think that Halloween is a very American holiday.
4. Pumpkin Patch
I always love to go to the Pumpkin Patch no matter how old I am. I think it is an age friendly place for everyone. I love going to pick out the pumpkin I want, and getting to carve it later. Usually when I carve my pumpkin I don't try anything too fancy because I am not very coordinated when it comes to things of that nature. Also, the Pumpkin Patch has hayrides and those are always fun.
5. Leaves Changing Color
I always love when the leaves change color, because it is so pretty. Even though people’s yards are covered with leaves and require extensive raking, I think that the scenery is breathtaking. Plus the colors embody the fall season.
6. Thanksgiving
Right after Halloween, it is time to prepare ourselves for the next holiday: Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is such an amazing holiday, because we can be grateful for God, our family, life, health, our friends, what we have, and so much more. Also, it is yet another opportunity for a feast. Around this time of year, my eyes are usually way bigger than my stomach. Who doesn’t look some pumpkin pie!
7. King's Dominion Halloween Haunt
I have been able to go to the King’s Dominion Halloween Haunt for a couple of years now. Even though I am not a big fan of scary things, I think this event is still fun and very thrilling. I remember one year, we took my grandma, and she would say “Hello” to every scary person to try to distract them from scaring us. If you have not checked out their Halloween Haunt, I suggest you do.
8. Black Friday
Right after Thanksgiving is wrapped up, Black Friday takes place. This is always something to look forward to as it is a symbol of our culture. Many people are out shopping and getting prepared for either the really nice deals or Christmas; perhaps both! Some of the deals are very nice and worth it because it saves you some money.
9. State Fair
I have attended the State Fair a couple of times with my family and my friends. This event is so much fun. I mean who would want to miss out on funnel cakes, fried Oreo's, rides, carnival games and seeing the animals! I think that the State Fair is such a nice experience and it goes perfectly with the fall weather.
10. Christmas is right around the corner
Believe it or not, Christmas is right around the corner. Right after fall is over, it is time to start preparing and looking forward to Christmas. It is a celebration of the birthday of Jesus and a time to spend with family (family/friends in Heaven too) and with friends.
With that being said, fall is quickly approaching. I hope you all are excited as I am for what this season has to offer ranging from Pumpkin everything to the State Fair. If you see me in the store, I am most likely buying something that has the word Pumpkin in it while holding my Pumpkin Spice Latte. On that note, let the fall festivities begin!
