10 Things College Kids Overwhelmed By Free Time Can Do On Winter Break

It's time to catch up on all the sleep we didn't get during the semester.

During winter break, it seems like the world is ours — no professors, no classes, no projects, and no assignments. "Free time" is kind of a myth in college, and any free time we do have is likely just us procrastinating other things. Now that we're on break, we actually have some time to relax without that guilt, but what exactly is one to do with all this time?

1. Plan adventures with friends.

It's a perfect opportunity to both visit college friends in their hometowns and see everyone from home.

2. Find a new hobby to love.

OK but honestly, though, it's time to catch up on all the sleep we didn't get during the semester.

3. Make time to binge-watch that show you’ve been waiting to see.

"Stranger Things," "The Office," "Parks and Recreation," "Friends,"and "Arrested Development"are a few good options. You may also gain some valuable life advice along the way, like how important pizza is.

4. Bake a new dessert just for fun every once in awhile.

Just make sure to, you know, read the directions first. Also, who says Christmas cookies can only be made before Christmas?

5. Marathon your favorite movies.

Pick a day, and don't forget the popcorn.

6. Attend a few sporting events.

You know hockey's always better if there's a fight on the ice.

7. Have a snowball fight or build a fort.

It's time to relive some childhood memories because it's time to win.

8. Read a new book or two.

I'm personally excited to have time to finally read Turtles All the Way Down.

9. Go see Pitch Perfect 3 in theaters.

Naturally, you’ll watch the first two right before going to see this.

10. Become your own barista and experiment with coffee creations.

You spent all semester drinking the same coffees left and right, so it may be time to try something new.

You only have so many days of freedom before spring semester, so make sure to make the most of them!

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
