10 Things That Only Twins Can Relate To

Among the billions of people across the world, there’s a particular population unlike any other. They’ve been by each other’s sides since the day they were born, in fact, even before they were born. They share and have shared everything with each other, from clothes to the space in their mom’s womb. Ahhh, twins.

Your person, your automatic best friend for life. They know everything about you and everything that you’re thinking, sometimes even before you think it. Whether identical or fraternal, there’s an undeniable bond between you two. The Tia to your Tamera, the Zack to your Cody, the Mary-Kate to your Ashley –– whatever it may be, there’s nothing better and more interesting than being a twin.

Luckily for me, I’m part of that particular population, and wouldn’t have it any other way.

Here are 10 things that only twins can relate to:

1. Whether identical or fraternal, being mistaken for each other multiple times a week

Come on people, you got a 50/50 shot.

2. Even your parents call you by the wrong name

This seems to happen way too often. But hey, my mom did call my brother by my dog’s name yesterday- could be worse.

3. When you tell people that you’re a twin and you’re hit with the “No, way!!!” or the “I see it!” responses

Then they ask you what your birthdays are for some validation. Which you both reply to in perfect synchronization. You want our address too?

4. One of the first things you tell people about yourself is that you’re a twin

Love it or hate it, it’s part of your identity. And yes, it will be engraved on my tombstone that I was a twin. Don’t know me if you don’t know her!

5. You’re referred to by your friends as “the twins”

“Did you invite the twins?” No names needed. Just “the twins.”

6. The older twin always takes advantage of the fact that they were “born first”

You both had an even shot at leaving the womb first, yet you just so happened to be the lucky winner. That’s right, four minutes bitch. I always win.

7. You can vent about your twin to other people but when someone else says something negative about your twin it’s game over

All hell’s about to break loose.

8. You inevitably always get compared to your twin

Academics, sports, looks – you can’t have it all.

9. You feel lost when you go anywhere without your twin

They’re your security blanket. It’s like that recurring nightmare you have about showing up in public places naked- yeah that’s what it feels like to be without your twin.

10. You wouldn’t change the fact that you’re a twin for the world

Your best friend, your go to, your built-in soul-mate. There’s truly nothing more special and unique than the bond between twins.

Love you sissy!!

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
