With the holiday season fast approaching, now is the time to get a head start on this year's holiday shopping. Since we want to treat our parents as well as they have treated us during prior holiday seasons, we tend to put a lot of thought into our gifts. With all the sales and new trends in society, it can sometimes be hard to determine which gift is the best gift for your parents. Here is a list of 10 things that you should consider while holiday shopping for your parents:

1. Nice Jacket

As climate change is undeniably having an effect on the earth, these past few winters have been some of the coldest winters in recent history. This is why one of the best gifts to give your parents this holiday season, is a nice coat. Gifting your parents with a coat this holiday season will keep them trending in the continuously changing world of fashion, but more importantly, it will keep them cozy during this winter season as well as winter seasons to come.

2. Keurig

Let's face it, there is no one that works harder than our mom and dad. Help give them the early morning pick-up that they need by gifting them a Keurig this holiday season. Keurigs make a great gift as they will allow parents to make just enough coffee to give them the energy needed to get through the day, with minimal hassle. Keurigs also allow parents to make themselves hot chocolate on those days when it's too cold to go outside.

3. Perfume/Cologne

When in doubt, buy a fragrance. Though they shouldn't be the main feature of your gift, giving your parents a nice cologne or perfume is always a good idea. So if you're stumped on how to fill out a gift for your parents this holiday season, remember, everyone likes to smell good.

4. iPod

If there is something that everyone loves, it's music. That’s why it’s a great idea to gift your parents with an iPod this holiday season. iPods will allow your parents to feel hip while they listen to their favorite tunes. With the wide range of iPod models, finding a model that best suits your parents will not be too hard.

5. Tablet

With technology moving at such an accelerated rate, most of our parents find it hard to keep up with all the technological devices being produced daily. Why not guide them into the 20th century by giving them a tablet this holiday. Tablets will allow your parents to perform most tasks that can be done on a computer while being a lot less complicated for them to use. With the wide variety of Tablets getting cheaper and cheaper, now is the perfect time to gift your parents with a tablet.

6. Bath Robe

There is nothing better than taking a hot shower after enduring a cold, snowy day. However, there is nothing worse than stepping out of the shower just to be greeted by a cold draft, sending chills up your spine. This is why a comfy bathrobe will make a perfect gift for your parents this holiday season. Bathrobes will also give your parents a luxurious experience, typically seen in hotels, at home.

7. Athletic Smart Bands

Being fit is without a doubt one of the biggest trends seen in today’s society. This is having a positive effect on society as diet-related health issues are beginning to become a major concern. Gifting your parents one of the many Athletic Smart Bands will motivate them to join the “get fit” trend this holiday season. Since your parent’s health will continue to improve by using an Athletic Smart Band more, they truly are the gift that keeps on giving.

8. On-The-Go Grooming Kit

On-The-Go grooming kits are possibly one of the most overlooked gifts. They are a perfect add-on gift, as they can be crucial during a special event. What makes them so special is the fact that they are small enough to fit into any glove compartment yet they provide all of the essential grooming tools from nail clippers to a miniaturized mirror. So as you’re finishing up your holiday shopping, be sure to include an On-The-Go grooming kit for your parents.

9. Digital Camera

While the holiday season is heavily associated with the giving and receiving of gifts, the most important aspect of the holidays, or any day for that matter, is family. Since capturing every detail of family interaction is an important value to society, having a digital camera is almost required. By gifting your parents a digital camera this holiday season you are allowing them to capture these family interactions. Since pictures are more valuable than money to a lot of people, digital cameras make phenomenal gifts.

10. Mechanical Watch

A mechanical watch is one of the most traditional gifts that you can give to your parents. Since our parents can remember what it is like to not rely on digital technology, mechanical watches make a great gift for them. The best part about gifting a mechanical watch in today's technological age is that you don’t have to break the bank to give the feeling of sophistication that a nice watch can provide. After all, our parents need something to help them manage their busy schedules.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
