10 Things That Are OK For You To Steal

Who ever said stealing was so bad?

1. Away.

Steal away. It’s easy to get caught up in school, homework, jobs, relationships and other various responsibilities, but don’t forget to make time for you. Steal away with tea and a good book or steal away on a run, but either way, just make time for play.

2. The show.

Steal the show. Sport YOU! Wear your favorite colored lipstick. Who cares if it’s purple? If it’s you, rock it. Go to open mic night and share your voice for once. The time to steal the show is now, so what’re you waiting for? There is no time like the present.

3. A bargain.

Steal a bargain. Treat yoself, and don’t even think about feeling guilty. If there’s a sale, it’d almost be a crime for you not to take advantage of that. Okay...if you don’t, I will.

4. A kiss.

Steal a kiss. Be risqué in the sweetest way; for those perfect dates, spontaneous summer nights, speechless goodbyes, and happiest of hellos. Life is too short not to.

5. A smile.

Steal a smile. You’d be surprised how a little gesture, like a smile, can change someone’s whole day. One of my favorite authors, Gretchen Rubin, once concluded, “One of the best ways to make yourself happy is to make otherpeople happy. One of the best ways to make otherpeople happyis to be happy yourself.”

6. Time with loved ones.

Steal time with loved ones. Think of your most prized memories, I’m confident that nearly all of them are with friends and family. The people you love most are also the ones who will have your best interest at heart, make you laugh deep belly laughs, push you to be your best, and will always be there for you. These kinds of people are the irreplaceable ones, the ones worth “stealing” for.

7. The squat rack.

Yes—steal the squat rack, own the squat rack, BE the squat rack! When everything in life is going south, you do what you gotta do to ensure your squats aren’t one of them! My advice: swoop in when they go get water.

8. Hearts.

Steal hearts. #7 can help with this one. Although, all joking aside, the greatest adventure in life is in taking other’s hearts and in letting them take yours.

9. Advice.

Steal advice. It can be sad to think that no life lasts forever, but understand when people are gone, it’s their words that stay. Remember that.

10. Opportunities.

Steal opportunities. In life, the truly great things won’t simply be handed to you; as Will Smith said in the Pursuit of Happiness, “You got a dream, you gotta protect it. People can’t do something themselves, they wanna tell you that you can’t do it. If you want something, go get it. Period.” Don’t hesitate to take every opportunity you can.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
