The honeymoon stage is great, is it not? Love, romance, and both parties are on their best behavior. Although the honeymoon phase is adorable, what's greater is having someone to annoy, be open, and be weird with. After all, what's better than having someone around for years that you can annoy constantly? Only long term couples can appreciate all of the doors that open after some time into a relationship. Not only do you now have a somebody to love, but somebody as close as family. You have someone to harass, and most importantly, a best friend. This is dedicated to my middle-school sweetheart, Caleb.
1. Wipe things on each other
I can't tell you how many times my boyfriend has wiped grease, water, or some other substance on me. I actually thought of this article topic because he decided that my sweater was a great tool to clean his phone screen with.
I think the girl in this .gif is actually Caleb in disguise:
2. Do absolutely disgusting things in front of each other that honeymoon-phasers would die before doing
Farting, burping, picking your nose, scratching your teeth – who cares anymore?
3. Not talk constantly and be perfectly fine with it
If you're super busy one day and barely get to talk, it's not the end of the world. Once you've been in a relationship for a while you don't need to be glued to your phone in order to update your significant other about everything you do.
4. Joking around like they're family
You can "yeet" their kisses and they won't get offended for months.
5. Not take everything so offensively anymore
You don't have to analyze your boyfriend's every move to decode the "wonder" that is man anymore. You can just take things how they are, and stop getting so offended by things that actually mean nothing.
The real goal is to be like Leia and Han:
6. Accepting that they're both stupid dorks and reveling in it
"Lol. Hey, Joe, lets see if we can both fit in your shirt. Lol."
"Omg. Yeah. We can. Lets make a video."
7. Eating together is no longer awkwardly horrible
You're both pigs, you both know it, and it's okay.
8. Allowing themselves to be completely fed up with one other for a little while
Lets face it, our significant others get very annoying sometimes.
9. Not suppressing their obvious strange tendencies
Lets dance while you attack my beard, that's alright.
10. Using harassment as a form of affection
*Cough* Caleb *Cough* I know this one all too well.
