10 Things That Inevitably Happen When You're The Girl With Guy Best Friends

I've always been the type of girl that is extremely laid back, low maintenance, and avoids drama like the plague. After a childhood of being surrounded by petty girls and their pointless drama I wasn't surprised that when I got to college I avoided friend groups with dramatic females. I'm not entirely sure how I managed to join a friend group composed entirely of males, but honestly it's probably the best decision of my life. When you're the only girl in your friend group there are a few things that will probably definitely happen.

1. You'll be asked by your female friends why you have cute guy friends yet you're still single.

Yes, my guy friends are handsome. NO, I don't want to date any of them because that would be weird.

2. You compare yourself to Jess from the show New Girl on a daily basis.

Maybe this show was actually based off of my life?

3. You'll be asked by multiple people on several occasions if you're dating any of them.

It's like anytime someone sees me with one of them they just assume we're dating. NO NO NO NO NO. Can't a girl just get Chick-fil-A with a guy and it not be a thing?

4. They'll treat you like a princess.

You'll never have to hold open a door for yourself or drive anywhere. Also they'll plan the best surprises for your birthday.

5. They'll protect you like you're their sister.

If someone messes with me, they better watch out because I have three guys that aren't afraid to stand up for me if need be.

6. They'll ask you for advice on what to wear from time to time.

Anytime an important dress up occasion is coming up I expect a text message asking what tie should go with what dress shirt.

7. They'll ask you to cook for them on special occasions.

Oh y'all want Super Bowl snacks? I'm on it.

8. They'll always be down to do fun adventurous things on a whim.

Want to go camping this weekend? Sure let's go.

9. Sometimes they'll ask if they can raid your costume box for Halloween.

"Hey uhhhh, can I borrow a Hawaiian shirt and a fanny pack for Halloween? You're a sorority girl, I know you have those."

10. They'll be the best, most down to earth friends that you could ever ask for.

Sure, they love Mexican food and Netflix more than anyone I know, but I love them nonetheless. Thanks for being my best friends, I don't know how I would survive college without y'all.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
