How many times do we take a minute to realize our state of mental health? We are not taught to care about our mental health. We are taught to focus our attention on physique and body image. Never do we take a minute to step back and put some effort into knowing or clearing our state of mental health. However, so many people suffer from illness regarding mentality. We as a society need to take a step back and realize our state of mental health and what we can do to improve our state of health. The step you take to ensure that is by knowing what makes you happy and knowing what you can do to make yourself genuinely feel good. Here are ten things that if you do every day you are going to live a much happier and calmer life.

  1. Sing a song on top of your lungs!

Not everyone is a professional or famous singer but singing out aloud can help make you happy because of the fact that you are enjoying the here and now.

2 . Smile for no reason!

Instead of always putting on a resting face start smiling. There doesn't have to be a reason for your smile but you will start to notice yourself becoming happier and calmer.

 3. Do a random act of kindness!

Doing a random act of kindness will bring peace to your heart and will make you happy. You can do a random act of kindness for family or for friends or even for strangers.

  4. Take yourself out to lunch!

We all deserve rewards and a break for all the hard work we do. So taking yourself out to eat will make you relaxed and happy or if you prefer to make it will also make you happy.

 5. Spend time with a good friend!

We are all so busy at times that we forget to check in with those close to us. Catching up with a good friend via texting or meeting up will make you happy and will give a moment to cherish.

 6. Tell someone you love them!

Telling people you love them will definitely make you feel good and will make you happy. Life is never guaranteed so telling people you love them should be a regular thing to do.

 7. Let go of bad memories.

Letting go and healing from pain takes time but it really is worth it. Start letting go of memories which eat your emotions.

 8. Keep a journal!

Haven't we all tried to keep a diary before? Well try again, keeping a journal will help you keep track of how you used to be and who you've become through time.

 9. Put your phone on airplane mode for a whole day!

Crazy idea isn't it? However, the world doesn't revolve around a touchscreen and SnapChat streaks to keep up with. Try to live in the present and try living it without your phone!

 10. Watch the sunset!

Sunsets are beautiful, aren't they? We love posting pictures of sunsets on SnapChats but why not take five minutes to actually embrace the beauty of it?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
