We've all been there; you start seeing the Bed Bath and Beyond advertisements, and Target puts up their dorm and back to school displays. You can't wait for your freshman orientation, or for sophomores, juniors, and seniors, going back home to your school. But when you have a few spare minutes in between picking out bedding and organizing your cute dorm decor, here's a few things to do before move in day.
1. Spend time with your parents
Yes, you will miss them once you move (back) in.
2. Spend time with your pets
The hardest thing about going to college this fall is going to be leaving my dog! I would give anything to take him with me. Take the time you have now to cherish your pets!
3. Make plans with your high school friend group
You most likely won't get everyone together during the school year, so make sure you take advantage of everyone being home. Tell each other all about that class you're dreading, or what you're looking forward to. Confide in each other; they probably get you better than anyone.
4. Go to your favorite local restaurant
You're about to eat most of the same few meals for the next few months, so order all of your favorite meals. Also, go with your parents and siblings. You're going to miss having dinner as a family.
5. Read a new book
Go to the closest book store and find something you think is interesting. Reading is a great way to keep your mind active when you're on vacation. And lets be honest, you're not going to have time to read as much as you'd like when you're back at school.
6. Binge a series on Netflix
Jump on a band wagon; start Grey's or watch The Office (again, and again).
7. Go on a walk or bike ride around town
Get some fresh air and exercise. You're probably going to get a little home sick this coming semester, so enjoy the beauty of your town a little.
8. Get a job
The extra cash is going to be a big help when its 2 a.m. and you want to order Insomnia Cookies.
9. Have a bonfire
Who doesn't love s'mores and star gazing?
10. Relax
College is stressful. Take some time and just unwind!
