There are certain things you know about hygiene, regular daily activities, or how to look nice nice once you start college. But looking back, you surely disliked any, or some, of the following tasks.
1. Brushing Your Teeth
Growing up, you hated doing this simple thing in your little boy or little girl days. Your parents made it an important lesson for you to do this every morning when you wake up and every night when you go to bed. Now you do it like it's second nature.
2. Homework
When you were younger, you would rather go outside and play with your friends. But now, when academics are a priority for your future, academics come first. And that starts with your homework.
3. Chores
Not all of you grew up having this responsibility, but for those who did, it was probably challenging having to do that since there's too much to do or you're afraid of something pertaining to that specific chore (e.g. it smells bad) and you try to nope out of there.
4. Eating your vegetables
Nutrition is important at any age of our lives, but most important when you're young. When you eat right at a young age, you're going to be healthier when you're older. Eating vegetables is at the top of that, since most little boys or girls don't like them at that time. But now, it's just a natural to eat them.
5. Going out to parties
When you were a kid, you probably went out to parties with your parents just to have play time with the other families' kids, and it probably was less fun than you'd like to admit. As college students, you like to go out to a party more often since you've learned that you're more outgoing and love to have a good time.
6. Talking to people of the opposite sex
You were probably caught in a middle school dance kind of situation where the guys only wanted to talk to guys or the girls only wanted to talk to the girls. It was understandable then, but when we're at college, it's better to get to know everyone.
7. Exercise
When you're younger, you were involved in physical education class as a part of school, so it was less of an issue to stay or get into shape. As a college student, physical education is no longer required, so it's on you to take the onus of exercising to stay in shape.
8. Being social
As a little boy or girl, you were more likely to be shy rather than outgoing, and it's natural since you haven't yet reached the time of your life when you should really start to let loose. But once you reach college, you start to let loose by attending a variety of events to meet new people, join a sorority or fraternity, or do anything to step out of your comfort zone.
9. Taking naps
College is a lot different from elementary school where your class schedule is more wide-open rather than structured such that you have every class every day. In college, your classes are blocked in a way that you meet two days or three days a week instead of every day. As an elementary school student, you typically are in class during the day and then you might have Kids' Time before your parents pick you up. Most cases there, your homework is done by 8 p.m. or 9 p.m. and you're in bed by 10 p.m. Not so in college; the schedule is different and you fill your time in different ways such that you'll be staying up later at night and have to make up that time during the day.
10. Take school seriously
This doesn't mean you didn't take it seriously when you were younger, but when you get to college, your academics at this level are as important as they've ever been. So strap those boots tight.
