Middle school: where our texting lives began, and completely thrived in every way possible. From the abbreviations to the slide phones, to the oh-so-important signature, your identity and popularity were defined by your phone and everything you did on it. Here are the most essential middle school texts that yes, were so cringey, but still deserve a comeback:
1. "Heyy :)"
The classic way to start any conversation. Especially if you're into them.
2. "Wyd?" "Talking to a cute girl. Wbu?"
This classic line made every girl's heart melt like butter. Literally, the worst pick up line but it somehow got all of the ladies.
3. "What would you do if I was there? ;)"
The OG f^*$ boy response to literally every text. Literally used for everything. "Wyd?" "Brushing my hair." "What would you do if I was there? ;)"
4. "Rawr XD"
I love that this one is becoming a meme and making a slight comeback on it's own. All of the emos know that rawr means I love you in dinosaur.
5. "<3"
The original emoji.
6. "Hang on I gotta take a shower." "Without me?!"
Why were boys like 11 and texting this???? So disturbing. So wrong.
7. "143"
So, shout out to Cody Simpson for inventing literally the STUPIDEST way to say 'I love you'.
8. "Totes"
Because apparently just spelling out the word 'totally' is totes too hard.
9. "Sorry, my cousin sent that."
Literally, EVERY time you sent a risky text and they didn't respond in .45 seconds, you had to blame it on your cousin texting it to them. I mean, it was the days before passcode so actually kinda believable.
10. "Wanna play 20 questions?"
Question 1: "who do you like?" ...Did anyone ever make it to question 2?
